if you ever had both trannys side by side out of the bike you would see which machine was the daddy
the 14 gears are massive, as for the clutch it is bullet proof but not squid proof

Torque requires large gears not HP! Have you ever seen the size of the Gears in a HARLEY Transmission? DOes that translate to it being hard to beat a Harley? I do not know ANYONE that cannot beat a Harley! I beat one on top end on my wife's 250 ninja because it was so unstable he had to slow!
I am trying to stay away from speaking about a "Certain" Motorcycle  because anything I say is taken as I hate the Bike! There are some foods I do not eat like Pork. If Pork was a ZX14, people would say that I hated it! I do not hate it I just refuse to eat it! I have know people that got sick from eating Pork and I have seen studies about Pork that it is very unhealthy . The question is, How do you hate something you do not own and have no involvment with? Reporting on a problem is not hating something! I just do not LIKE it! As in this post, I am underwhelmed by it! If you put that engine in my 12, I would not like the 12 as much either for the same reasons of the Case cylinders! Put the 12 engine in the 14 and I would not like the looks of the Bike! Simple as that! I like the ZRX1100 and it is not as fast as either so it is not always about Speed! Motorcycles are more about Feelings. Just look at all of the Harleys out there!!

Thats a great example to make a case 
Ya I agree 100%, and will add Harley's certainly aren't the only slower outdated, lower-tech, nonperforming profucts that are loved by the masses.
Another example: The '69 Camaro's are HAWT too with the public, but of course the new Mustang/Vette/Honda cars eat them alive on both acceleration and performance. But again, some prefer not to progress pass yesterdays outdated technology and it makes for great debate huh 
But of course by 1960's standards the Z28 car "performed"

I guess it is all about Cubic Inches! The "Muscle" cars had it and the Harley Has it! People are turned on by Torque! The Viper has it now and the for sure the Boss Hoss has it 
Next year I may take one of them for a ride at Daytona!

I would like to see some big mph numbers from the 14. I don't mean 200 on a tuned-to-the-teeth "stock" bike either. When do we get to see the 14 compete with the Busa in LSR?...never, I bet.

consider the outcome of my Ninja-mounted nemesis, Vincent Hill. Hill and I were side by side for the entire afternoon, right up until that last run. While I was fortunate enough to just (barely) break the 200 mark, Hill was sent packing with a this-close best of 199.5 mph.
"Just HOW fast does MY bike have to be for it to be "Considered" FAST"?? 199.5 in a standing Mile and me at over 250 Pounds! If that is not fast, then show us what your ZX14 has done and It will have to be certified over 200 for it to JUST be faster than my SLOW Bike!

I started this thread becase I wanted the 12r to get its respect and due.. To take nothing away from the 14.. it basically has turned out to be another Blackbird..

Personally if given the choice today between a 12 and a 14 I'd still go for the 12. When I got my 12 I was looking for a streetbike I could commute everyday, ride everywhere from back roads, curves, long straights, to trackdays/drag strips every once in awhile. You know, a do it all bike.
It was between that and the Busa, I chose the 12 because it had better handling and brakes between the two. Plus Busas are a dime a dozen, you can't throw a rock round here without hitting one and it was always looked at as the "better bike". I prefer to ride bikes that aren't looked at as "THE ONE to beat" so if I win a race it's not just "because he's on the Blah Blah Blah".
And it seems the zx14 has out Busa'ed the Busa, a little lower, heavier, longer, torquier, it's a better drag bike for sure, but it's not the do everything bike the 12 is.
My idea of MY ZX14(R) woulda been more of an 05 ZX12R with the power/torque increase plus a 20-30 lbs weight reduction, brakes that could handle a trackday without complaint, high mount dual pipes(instead of one HUGE pumkin launcher), adjustable rearsets, a shift light ON TOP of the tach, a gear indicator and call it a day; but that's just me, the current 14 is a great bike, but it's just not me.
ZX10/CBR1000RR, here I come.

I agree with zx12adam. I wanted to be different plus I loved the look of the 12. Sometime I wonder would I have waited on the zx14 knowing it would be out a year after I brought my 05 12R. I'm glad that I brought my twelve. Not kicking down the 14 but the only thing that could be said is that the 14 is the new king of speed. Just like the busa boyz everybody jump on the 14 because it was the new king of speed. It's kinda funny that before the 14 came out we heard that the 12 would clean up the busa. This came from most of 12 owners that brought a 14. Know we agrue over the same thing that we agrue over the busa. I guess they are not fighting back as fast as we are. Also they know that one day the 14 will have it's day as a has been bike. We all know that the busa is coming.
If we should argue it should be with Kawasaki. The 14 ,busa and 12 are extremely fast bikes. We all would agree with that. If you look at the numbers all three are right by each other. The After Market is making a killing on us because we have to use them to make the bike faster.As far as stock bikes the only thing they are doing is making it a little faster than the next one. That's there job. I t would be kinda funny if Kawasaki comes out with a 14R to compete with the faster busa or who ever or what ever comes out next. This is all about MONEY and speed. The way it's going by 2010 it may be 1700 or 1800 cc superbike. I agree with the 12 faithful that for a couple more cc ,and a bike that don't really blows the 12 or the busa out of the water why bother. I see the 14 point of view it's fast it's new and it's the king. All in all it's a Kawasaki.
One more point for seven years Kawasaki was saying that the 12 ran with the Busa and it would even beat the busa. We that have a twelve have prove that here and there. So why did they build the 14. To beat the Busa. To be the king of the streets. So why are we here getting down on our own because Kawaski did not step up to the plate.We that have 12 just wait when the new king come out. Then you will see are 14 brother act a fool because the bike should of been built faster to begin with.Word to Kawaski..........Make a bike that take seven years to catch like the zx11. The 14 will not last that long! Stop string us along!

You guys are so entertaining. I remember when Kawi introduced the ZX12 "'busa killer". That hurt their sales, and most of us know the deal when that all went down. Now the 14 has busted all over the busa. Sure a later technology bike will bust the 14 (with better aerodynamics, less weight, and more HP), and hopefully sooner than later.
I love my little track bike and plan to keep it a long time. Not so with my ZX14. When a manufacturer offers a more advanced faster bike, I'll trade, I don't keep bikes for a year or two but I like having the best. Hope one comes out soon, my 14 is over a year old, has 11,000 miles on it, time to trade up!
You guys remind me of the people stuck in the stone age with no tollerance for change. Like a friend I know "I'll never part with this '69 Z Camaro, even the new Vette Z06 isn't as awesome". OK, right dude.
I realize the ZX12 is one super-HAWT awesome bike. But for how many more years in the future will you guys be singing "the ZX12 is the best bike there ever was, ever is, and ever will be!?"
I dunno. But regarding entertainment, I enjoy going to these forums (zx12/busa/etc) and reading such. Rage on...Anyone got salt?
