In the summer, just put a cheese sandwich in the glove box, by the time you get 20 miles it's toasted... Ok maybe not toasted, but melted and ready to eat....

Do you all think that this heat issue has something to do with the catlytic converter? has anyone put any of that fibergalss cloth on the exhaust pipe to see if its really coming from there?

This may sound like sacrilege, but has anybody tried the simple tact of drilling some holes in the appropriate spots of the fairing? You could even make some kind of design or something out of it. Just a thought. Seems like it oughtta' work. Any downsides, other than, perhaps, looks?

To rehash, I have ridden mine for 2 summers now and when the bike had less than 4000 on it, the heat was considerable, I fixed the heat foam and as the mileage went up, the heat started to subside. This summer the heat was a non issue even on 100+ days. I have almost 30k miles and the thing is almost too cool during the fall.

I have 17,450 miles on my 08' concours and I did have heat issues initially too. I changed the oil to synthetic and having a lot of miles, my heat has decreased by at least 60%, even on those hot central valley days. Keep riding, it only gets better!

I only wear jeans and a jacket with boots when I ride. Anything over 70 temps and that puppy just fucking cooks my legs...like you, about 10K miles and still lots of heat coming off those side plastics. My 99 Road King never had any heat issues whatsoever...and it's pushing over 110 RWHP...my ZX14 has very few heat issues too..

You need to ride it faster than 25mph then the heat can dissipate.

A friend of mine just had to have his cats out, so he took it to a guy who cut it open and rewelded it back together, then he heat wrapped the whole thing. We just put it back together today, man did that thing SMOKE for a while....
When winter is finally over we are going to swap bikes on a hot day to see if there is any difference, and just how much of a difference there is if any. He could have had it ceramic coated but he went the heat wrap route, we will know in another 4 months or so if it was succesful.

Yesterday, I rode my cousin's brand new '09 FJR and the temps were in the 60's. I must say that I felt the heat MUCH more from his bike as opposed to the Connie. So, if we are comparing heat issues, I seriously think that the Connie is much better in managing the heat. Even in the 120 degree summers I have here in Valencia california, I can still tolerate the bike with proper jeans.

Like I have said before on my 09 C14 I only have heat around the feet, and I have to expect that considering the exahust system is down there, other then that I dont seem to have any problems with it. I would like to hear what oncourse sees with his friends bike and see how that turns out.

Remove the side faring panels to check the insulating foam barrier that keeps the heat from directing right to the shins... While I only have about 10hrs of seat time on the Connie, I never noticed a problem (cooler than my 14).

I installed the Muzzy complete system. There is difinitely less heat. The bike also cools down much faster when you are riding. The weight difference was enormous. The cats weigh a ton. There was increase in power and its sounds great. I also put in the power comander and loaded the muzzy map.
The weather has been much cooler since I installed the system. The really test will be in the summer. So far I am very please with the system. I will try to post pictures in the near future.

Always amazed at when people whine about the amount of heat coming off their bike. You're straddling 1400 cc's, less than two feet from black asphalt. You want less heat--buy something with four wheels, roll up the windows, and turn on the air conditioning--otherwise shutup and enjoy the ride.

Idiot -- you're the one who should shut the fuck up, because you obviously don't have a fucking clue as to what you're talking about. For starters Jerkoff, before you belch out your stupidity here, it might actually behoove you to know that some other large displacement engines DO NOT HAVE ANY HEAT MANAGEMENT issues, like the one in my KAWASAKI ZX14's and ANY HAYABUSA, which are certainly MUCH faster and yield much more power than the C14, of which I happen to have had 3 of in the past 18 months. Do you happen to be familiar with KAWASAKI or SUZUKI and any of those bikes I've just mentioned? I've owned numerous ones of each in many model years you fucking troll. Now go crawl back under the rock you crawled out from under, then fuck off and die, ASSHOLE.
Please feel free to discuss in case I wasn't abundantly clear to you in this post, TROLL.

Crawling as I write. Nice post. Very well thought out, articulate, and informative--just what I would expect from our neighbors to the north.
Three C14's in the past 18 months--wow! Why three? Did you forget where you put a couple of them? It sounds like power and "heat management" are very important to you--could this be an attempt to compensate for your lacking in other "personal performance areas"? As far as being "FastestBusaAround", is that a self-proclaimed title or did your friend (singular) come up with that?
By the way, with 5805 posts--many with spelling errors (ie: you "wear" jeans, you don't "ware" them) when do you have time to maintain or ride your numerous, fast, powerful, expensive, title-earning bikes? Maybe you should get out of your Mom's basement and seek that "life" you need, instead of remaining an arrogant, foul-mouthed, bikeland retard!
Keep the rubber side up, loser. Looking forward to reading more of your obnoxious rhetoric.

I guess the only reason you're "crawling as you write", is solely due to the fact that your boyfriend's dick was too big for your scrawny ass last night huh? Did it hurt, little boy? Next time, use lube or tell him to stuff it in your mouth...then tell us how it was...
...and ya, 3 Connies in the past 18 months, know why? Because I can, asshole...that's why. I didn't actually forget where I put them, I just got bored with the colors, not to mention the plethora of bikes I've had in the past few years, just because I fucking feel like it.
"Mom's basement" - now that's so original...gee how many times have you used that one before? I guess you haven't a clue about me - no matter, you're still a dick.
So let's see now...I'm guessing you went and read or dug up a whack of my old posts just so you could find one with a spelling mistake to thrive on here...get a life Dickhead. BTW, is "shutup" even a word? I can't seem to find that word anywhere - must be something that exists only in your part of the world and nowhere else...and where's that anyway, redneck country I take it? You all fuck your sisters and brothers there?
Shit - before you go calling the kettle black, it might actually be worth buying yourself a dictionary, so you can learn how to write and spell...and if that's the best you can come up with, maybe you need to go back to school...on second thought, it won't help...save your money.
Thinking long and hard about it - you should have used a more apropos screen name, like Cocksuckerandme...after all, isn't that what you do? You did say "crawling" - so was that to go suck your B/F's dick or let some air out of your ass? Must be the latter, because I'm thinkin' you've exhausted all the rest of that hot air through your mouth, but I bet your friends like you sho' nuff huh?
You want better articulation...how's this loser?
Ted, take this to the Smackhouse so Stuart and I can tear this troll a new asshole, please...
