Does anyone ride with a passenger?
Just curious to see if anyone rides with a passenger, I have taken my 12 yr. old son once, but am afraid to take the wife. I just cannot sit flat footed, and am also wandering if the gel low seat is any good, and would it help me to gain confidence (If I could sit flat footed)..
Thanks,
Rob

i can't sit flat footed all that well either but if you keep the bike upright and make sure your passenger doesn't move around that much it's not that big a deal. You didn't meantion but i'm guessing your wife weighs a lot more than a 12 year old so that may be a problem.

You may want to consider going to the ZX14 seat. It's profile is lower than your stock seat and may make a big difference. I own a zx14 and actually use the concours seat. You will need to use your stock brackets if switching to the new seat.

Dude, QUIT FEEDING THE WIFE! She'll lose weight or leave. Either way solves your problem.

I regularly ride with either my wife (174), or my 16 y/o son (190). I can flat foot without a passenger so riding one of them does lower the C14 a bit. I really stiffen up the suspension when I ride them so that helps. It's suprising how well she still handles with all that weight on her. Me and my son (me 250, him 190=440 plus clothing and gear) exceed the recommended maximum weight of 441 lbs, but the C14, I call her Connie, doesn't seem to care. A couple of weeks ago I had my son with me and we were late for an appointment. My friend was on his Trex with the ZX14 motor and we whooped him on the interstated. He topped out around 155 and we totally left him. I was impressed at how Connie performed that day. It was hot (95) and she was loaded (me and my son).

So my big deal is, does anyone have the gel seat? 30mm lower is 1 1/4" or so, just might be enough. I never thought going at speed would ever be an issue, just slow stuff, which I have problems with occasionally, even making a turn rolling at a light takes some getting used to. I admit that I have fewer miles than most, and am still learning, but If I could flat foot it would give more confidence.
As for feeding the wife, she feeds herself. She does the shopping, but needs a job and needs to go to a gym, and needs a shot of hormones or something. I guess it's like al bundy said, you get married there thin and sexy, after a while the get big, then they get divorced and get thin again untill they get hitched once again...

Ya, it takes practice. I'm a big guy and i'm still a little paranoid after i dropped a Gixxer 1000. I was making a u-turn in the driveway, started to fall. I grabbed the front break and it just flipped me, lol. I know how the wife thing is. Never could get mine to go to the gym, we get divorced, now she's ripped up.

I just got back from a 1k + ride to Gatlinburg, TN - Deals Gap - Cherohala Skyway. Took the wife along and had a topcase on the back (till we got to the cabin). I dumped it in Gatlinburg. Same issue, I'm on my tiptoes even with the wife on the back (I'm only 5' 8.5"). I was pulling out onto 321 in Pigeon Forge, it stalled. I went to restart while I was still rolling and it just started going over on the right. My tip toes were not enough to keep up 600 lbs plus two riders. I need to find some way of lowering it so it doesn't happen again. I managed to pick it up by myself and not much was damaged (other than my ego). It caught the lower black half of the mirror when it went down. Any ideas of what can be done to lower it. I want to put Corbins on so I'm trying to avoid going with the gel seat to lower it.

Call Corbin and talk to them. I'm pretty sure they can lower it if you ask.
I dropped my Connie right before I painted it. I was taking it off the center stand after my first oil change. If you're not used to a centerstand, like I'm not, be careful with this. I was just pushing on the handle bars and it fell away from me when it came off. Putting one hand on the cargo rack and pulling works much better. I was surprised how little damage was done though. Small scratch on the bag and front fairing, tiny scratch on the mirror.

I'm 5'7.5" and ride with my wife 5'4" all the time. Hell, riding with her is a big part of the reason I got the bike. I will not lie: I am on the toes of my riding boots when I ride with, or without her. It doesn't bother me though. I have ridden through the heart of Manhattan, at 12:00 a.m. no less, with her on the back, and no worries.
That said, if you are BARELY on the balls of your feet with a bike like a C14, it helps having really strong legs, like myself

It is definitely the best handling bike of its type when its comes to riding two-up. Most of the 4k on mine has seen her on the back with me. Maybe I just need to be more cautious and like All said keep working on those leg muscles.

I ride with my wife all the time. I am 6' and can get my feet flat on the ground, no problem holding both of us up. Just got back from a wonderful week at David Walley's near Genoa,NV. We took a ride from Walley's to hwy 88, left on hwy 89 and then east back to hwy 395. Lots of curves and beautiful views. The Connie has no problem handling these kind of roads with 2 up. by the way, if any of you get the chance, take 395 to 108 (Sonora pass), what an awesome ride.
