anyone around 5' 8" on a Corbin seat?
Hi again!
I need a new seat for my C14. I'm tired of fighting the "pushing/sliding forward" feeling of the stocker. It's comfortable but doesn't seem to fit my riding posture.
I've been looking at the Corbin, mainly because I really like the Smuggler trunk/seat combo.
My only concern with the seat is they say the sweet spot is further away from the handlebars that the stock. I have the Helibar risers already and I was wondering if anyone around my size (5' 8") has the Corbin seat and how it affects your reach to the bars.
I normally ride as far back as I can on the stock seat.
Thanks
Leif

Hi Leif,
I am 5'8" and bought a Corbin seat which is great! I just did a 1,500 mile run from London to Paris via Spa (in Belgium) and it did a really good job although I should warn you that you do have to pay heed to Corbin's warning that it takes around 2,000 miles to really bed-down.
To your point about the distance of the sweet spot, it is further back that the stock seat and I found myself reaching forward just a little which was rather uncomfortable. I have ordered the bar risers though and hope that cures everything and I'll be right as rain. Let me know how you get on although I can categorically state that you won't regret buying the Corbin for pure comfort and craftsmanship.
Happy riding!

Thanks Left-hooker!
I do have the handlebar risers so I think this seat will be good for me. I know that we are all different and what works well for some may be awful for others. Take the stock seat for instance. Some people swear by it and some (like me) don't care for it. I guess the only way to go is take the Corbin plunge!
Thanks again,
Leif

I always thought it was the seat base that was way too heavy, but now I realize that it is the concrete that they use for foam that makes the thing heavy. Soft padding for a Corbin is available at your local donut shop. A few dozen a week should give you a soft seat in 2000 miles or 2 months.

When I first bought my c14 I hated the seat. I would as you said, slide forward and crush the family jewells. after putting 1800 miles on the bike the seat seems to has broken in just fine. I'm 6'5". I'm going to wait a little longer before I change seats. Their factory is about 20 miles from my house. I did have them make a seat for my Meanstreak and it was a bit hard at first but soffened up afte a bit

You thought it got softer but what really happened is you got callouses on your ass. Or you changed your diet.

That's ok, You can keep them. Ick.
The Kawasaki seat is lower which I don't need. I like the stocker if it were flatter in the back so it wouldn't push you toward the tank.

Ted there is a guy that uses the ZRXOA board that will do custom work on stock seats, he might be able to shave a little foam out of the stocker and help with the sliding forward. There is also a guy in FL I seen an article on him that will take the stock seat, change out all the foam to a better foam and recover it using the stock cover so it still looks completely stock...I will see if I can find his info...

Thanks. For the most part I like the stock seat, but when you really start putting hours per day on the thing it would be better if you could sit further back in the seat once in a while if for no other reason than to just change position a bit.
