Off Topic, But I Only Tried it Once!
My thoughts after my first track day…. Just had to tell you guys.
Well first off that’s all my thoughts are about since then. What the Hell is this! I feel the track in my blood and my veins seem to be pulling my skin, which is telling my eyes that if what you’re seeing is not the entrance to the track, you’re looking at the wrong thing. I’m tellen ya man I got to have it. I’m pretty sure you could do heroine one time and not be instantly addicted, but not this s*it. What I did right, all I did wrong, how am I so fast, why’s everybody else so much so much faster?
I’m driving my car yesterday and I notice I’m trying to shift my butt for the corners in a tight bucket seat (it don’t work). I was at the casino and found myself picking my lines through the crowd and tables as I walked around. Brake, match rpm, downshift, move your arse, turn…. Just to make my way around a craps table!
I don’t know if I can take it. But I HAVE to. My body, mind and heart all belong there. I am an instant, hopeless addict.
Anyone know of any 12-step programs for track addicts?

12 steps?
Not that I know of, usually the first step off the track and back to the day job helps to kill the buzz....

I did some track time years ago and YES it is additive. I was on a Suzuki Katana 750 at the time. A friend of mine did some amateur racing and had 1 of his 3 track only bike at Pocono, a Suzuki GSXR750. He said here you want a rush take this out for a spin and man I was hooked. This bike made mine feel like a Harley in the turns. A few weeks later we met again at the track and about half way through the day he again invited me to take his bike out and of course I accepted. I think it was about the 3rd lap that addiction turned to terror. Coming into turn one off the straight I'm concentrating on hitting the right line, staying clear of the bike in front of me, brake, clutch, downshift, lean and pull. All of a sudden I felt the rear starting to slide, before I could react it slid even more and then BAM, highside. It shot me off quicker than you could imagine. The first thing I hit was a hay bail (that didn't hurt) then I slid through the grass ( that didn't hurt either). In that split second I thought well I crashed but I'm not hurt, well as I'm sliding I see the bike coming at me and I'm thinking THAT"S GOING TO HURT (it did) hit me in the back as I rolled through the grass and landed on me. Noting broke but my pride and the bike, had some nice black and blue patches on my legs, back an ass. That was the last for me and track days. My buddy was cool about it, he said now I'm not the only one who crashed that bike. He said I never crashed the other 2, this one must be bad luck I think I'll sell it. I thanked him for allowing me to join such an exclusive club and told him when your done laughing get me some ice my knee is starting to swell.

That's great Worm! Did you need a race license to get in? There's a track here, but you need a race license to even go out on a track day. I'm sure it's a blast!

No race license required for most of the track days around here (Houston).
