oil filters & break in
Hey all. FNG here. I'm on the list for the next (first) ABS model at my local dealer.
I've read nearly everything in this forum and thanks for all the helpful info. I've only sat on one in the showroom so far but in my mind I've already logged several thousand miles... I'm coming off a V-Max and looking forward to the leap into the future!
My first question is what oil filter it uses...same as the zx-14? If so I know what that that is and want to use the Mobil-1 equivalent. P/N's would help.

I can see this coming and I don't want to start a big thing, just wonder if anyone has any info or comments about it specifically related to the C-14. Thanks!

It's the same as the zx-14. Part's fiche list them both as part #16097-0004.

I did the hard break-in method. Changed oil at 170 miles and again at around 1000 miles where I also changed the shaft oil. Just run regular oil during break-in period. I used the standard Kawasaki oil as that's what was in it. Motoman actually recommends regular car oil for the break-in, but I was too lazy to change it and just ran with the factory oil. Bike is running great, using no oil at all and running cool with 3300 miles on it now. I'll probably change to synthetic oil at 8000 miles or more. Want to make sure it's fully broken in before making the switch. By the way, changing the oil is very easy with everything easily accessible. The oil filter and rear drive filler cap were installed VERY tight from the factory. Be careful removing the oil filter as one guy had it break apart trying to take it off.
