had 05 z1000 - excellent for long commute and would beat most cars on the road (if you want to get out of the way fast). great gas mileage . only thing bad about the bike was passenger had to sit on a rock.

They should sell all bikes with an exhaust choice option , right ? Thats the fist thing to get changed , be it for looks , or performance! Having ridden a Z1000 a couple of times , I think Kawasaki knows there is a group of people somewhere that will take to the new Z1000 just like the group that took to 14s, Busas , and the mighty GXXR1s ! If the right group of people buy into the Z1000 thing , it will be a force to be reckoned with! The bikes are stupid fast regardless of hp numbers! I'd take one home in a blink of an eye if $$$$ was plentiful , and it would be a battle for the Suk 1000s , and I'd wreak havoc on the ill fated B-king (rip) if you could get one to come to a drag strip!

+1
the aftermarket offers a plethora of options in regards to exhaust. Manufacturers are required to have big gawdy heavy exhausts due to Al Gore and the green crowd. The factory exhaust is not what will prevent this bike from being a hot seller.

Anyone who buys one these should get a few "Decepticon" stickers to put on it.

I wonder how much HP is available to be gotten with minimal cash? I guess we'll have to see what kind of magic Kerry and Area P can do

Bring back the ZRX and make it a ZRX1400 .....The ZRX has a big big following unlike the Z1000 .. Z1000 just falls to short ... But i'd bet money a Z1400 would have hit the mark ..

ZRX is sweet, and Kawi hasn't figured out a naked ZX1400 would sell like crazy unless they botched it up like the "b-king".
But, we're offered the "Z1000"

This Cat has ridden everything under the sun.
http://blogs.sportrider.com/6619440/featured-sport-bikes/new-2010-kawasaki-z1000-first-ride/index.html
Seems like it works really well on the street.
I trust Kens opinions after reading them for years. He is also faster than anyone here.
Forget paper power. Sounds like it works and works well.
Besides we all know there is easy HP to be drawn out without affecting reliability.
Heres MCN's video;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfH9li9WlXA
Looks like fun!!!
Isnt a 990 Super Duke but I dig it. In black. Maybe with the Orange painted Red or Kawi green.
After owning a modded 14 for 3 years I found I dont really need 180 hp much on the ROAD.

The bike is still ugly and underpowered as far as *I* am concerned. Perhaps he will buy the bike that *I* won't.
It's good that you have a hero, though.

If they came out with a 1300 or 1400 ZRX that didn't have it nuts cut off and wasn't heavy as a harley it would sell! I had to build mine to the proper 1300cc's with the proper amount of power. What the hell is up with the eccentrics?! Didn't Kawi learn their lesson off the ZX11 and the ZRX? Eccentrics suck! The should have left the swingarm alone!

He aint no hero. At least of mine. Racing a modded Ninja 650 with Jay Springsteen must have been cool though.
All the Naked Bikes come in at about the same HP except the Ducati Street Fighter.
For what it is and what they do its enough.
LOOKS ...,MEH, just opinion, taste. Many think the ZX and C-14s are Fugly.

LOL,
I copied that directly from 2 Bros. web site, Smokin.
If someone wanted to play with photo shop,
How about that body work on a 14...., in Red.
That would be a awesome naked bike!
Curious if anyone will bother with making a full system.
Wonder if Brock will bother?
Dual Smegs would be badass.
I'm sure there will be plenty of slipons.
Most buyers wont be after big HP.
There is other bikes that fill that need.
This more like the Bandit etc.
Figure they will be discounted $1000 + by Sept.

"The fashion these days is either Ricky Racer or Billy Badass Biker.
“So how do we sell these things?” asked Edmundson. I, along with the other journalists at the table with him sat quietly until we realized he wasn't asking rhetorically."
They forgot about Us HP is everything riders
" Seriously, how do you sell a subtly powerful, great-handling fun machine to people who don't seem to really understand that motorcycling is really about the ride, not the image? How do you sell rollerskates to hamsters?"
After spending a small pile of hundreds trying to make a 14 behave like what this bike does stock.
I'm interested in their rollerskate.
Guess I'm just a 12,000 mile a year all weather seat sniffer.
Did I mention I'm in Alaska working all summer? So I put the miles on while you fair weather Cats are in your cages LOL
Had frost on the leather seat after Xmas Eve dinner at a bay side restaurant.
Merry Christmas all.

You spent a pile of hundreds to turn your 14 into a Z1000? Sounds like you bought the wrong bike to begin with!

Bike looks nice..the hp figures would keep me from buying one if I was out for a new bike...just a matter of what else can be had for the same money nowdays??
...I bet the hp is satisfying to a practical every day riding degree....but too much effort, time and money is is put into getting extra hp from a bike to reach "the top"......when one can buy big hp already from the factory as we can with other bikes available, be foolish not to....a no brainer...
