Busa is the queen at this point, correct? Both are of the aristocracy, one is just a bit higher up the royalty chain at this point.

OK... my wife holds it against me.. (she got no birthday present this year.. ) but I have the 12, the 14 and the Busa. (Hey I do a little laundry now and then??!!) I took them out tonight for kicks... 56 degrees here in Wisconsin.. PERFECT weather. the 12 spools up so cool when you take off. It really scoots nice. It was breaking the wheel loose. Handled sluggish since I have been on the 14... Brakes were good and wheely is so easy to hold through 1st. (At 42 I no longer do the balance point as my brain seems a bit slower than it used to be...) The light(s) are really nice on that bike. It really lights up the whole road, and right in front of you. I wanted to stay on it... but I would be kicked out of the house. NEXT, the Busa. I have the all black which looks good, (I am sorry but I have always considered it an ugly bike... respected appearance... but ugly.) I leave the hump on. It does sit pretty low. Nice gauges, HORRIBLE lights. Gosh, it puts a great spear of light on high beam, but unless it is aiming right where it needs to be it is bad. I have NO idea why people called it the bus??!! It really handles well. I carved some corners and it really goes in the lower rpms! I was used to the bone stock 14 which is DEAD down low. I took it through 3 gears and really forgot how nice it pulls out. It was very stable with no wheel spin. (Great geometry.) I then parked it and got out the 14. MAN, smooth as silk. Brakes are incredible! gauges could stand to be just a tad brighter compared to the "computer info". I hit it and decided that the butterfly valves need to come out. Regardless, when it hit 6000 it was just a monster. If you have ridden one, you realize that you need to be ready to shift... and that is not a lie!! The lights seemed rediculously bright after the busa. Hit the curves... does it really hit the scales at 500+ lbs??!! What a pleasure to move around. I changed the riding style that you use when on a big bore bike and kept it in the higher rpms coming out of corners... very stable and really ready to fly! I stayed out longer on the 14 just because of the temp. It is really noticeably faster in the cool temp. I am only getting about 36mpg since I got the bike??? I am really easy on it most of the time. Anyway, I have to say that hands down it was by far the most enjoyable ride. The clutch is really a plus on this bike. The 12 has the cable clutch which I like better than the Busa, but the 14 has an obvious edge on them both. zx12 has 7000 miles, the Busa has 6800. Both have new tires... So there you have it... I told the wife that I would sell one this year... and since she says that the 14 is MUCH better for her to ride on, I will be getting rid of the Busa, (or maybe the wife lol). My intention here is not to be a dick... which I may be, but I am trying to honestly give a fair review. I have yet to drag the 14, and probably won't due to time etc... I know that the Busa was soooo easy to run consistant times on... but when you add up everything in all of the bikes, I believe that the 14 stands above the others. Let's check out 2008 and I may have a whole new story on here. So ends the saga.... The King, Queen and Prince... and to all a goodnight!!

The rule is one King one Queen. For 2006 The King is ZX-14. The Busa has been the King since 1999 never remembered hearing sharing it with the ZX12..LOL. It's been a long time for us Kawi faithful to say. We are on top again. Can't share the kingdom this time...lol

I am lucky enuff to have the oppurtunity,as a hi-po shop owner,to ride just about every bike that comes out, every year. add onto that the hands-on experience of working, modifying and customizing them ,all this allows me to sample these skoots in so many different ways.my shop works on more busa's than any other skoot that comes in,and i also own a highly modified 2k busa.
now,to the point.....the zx14,in completely stock form, is about a 50% improvement over the busa. i would rate it higher,as it really deserves it,but one of the reasons we buy these big boys is for the motor, and the nuetering that these 14's come with was a big disappointment to me and everyone i have spoken with.now we all know that it can be easily fixed, but i am talking about off the showroom floor bikes.the busa's have no such nuetering,so a busa owner can enjoy all of the power all the time.
now, take away the aspect of the power neutering, and the 14 is about a 98% improvement over the busa. within about 60 miles on the 14,it had better front brakes than my busa, which has s/s lines,HH pads, wave rotors, carbon fibre wheels and my busa weighs
55 pounds less than a stocker. the 14 is smoother, handles better with stock suspension settings. and from some tests i have seen, weighs within just a few pounds of the busa. but the 14 carries it's weight MUCH better, with the feel of a much lower center of gravity, most likely due to much of the fuel being located lower, under the seat.
now when it comes to the looks, that is a personal matter. i DID NOT like the first pics of the
14 when they first came out,but the more i look at this 14,the more i like it.
i have found that in life,an open mind is very beneficial and allows one to appreciate things for what they offer and not some theoretical, egotistical or narrow-minded views.anyone that forms an opinion of something without first-hand knowledge is at least cheating oneself of the facts.
heck,my absolutely favorite skoot as far as looks goes is the 2004 and later R1,an absolutely georgous skoot, but as i just don't fit the darn thing i'm content to look at them!

RACNRAY what you have posted is what every zx14 owner has posted and feels about the zx14...Every Busa owners that has taken a ride on a zx14 has posted the same as you and me ...It's to bad that some of the Busa owners are so hard headed that they will never try one for them selfs......It's really a shame but hell it's their loss and not ours....I have had two Busas and will allways have great memorys of the Busa , just as a did my 79 CBX or my 73 H2......The zx14 has rasied the bar and will be a new page in motorcycle history...

ZX-14 188.3 mph unrestricted, I can't remember but if memory serves me correct, there was a bike that ran 194 mph way back in 1999.

Hey bigborebiker or BoosaRyder or what ever you call your self today .......READ your own website > you will find a thread where your man Dave0 reported on Maxton ... His friend Chad set a new production record on a zx14 at 196.1 with only 24 miles on the bike ...NO stock busa has gone that fast in the standing mile....I know you want to stick you head in the sand and not see this but truth will set you free.....

Hyabusa sure looks better but the bigger bored ZX 14 seems to be better in terms of power and speed. The GSX 1300 R Busa is pretty much a 2 year old bike changing very little since then so it is not surprising that a new launch designed in every way to dethrone the Busa would not be sucessful in doing so unless something went seriously wrong. It is only fair that we wait for the 2007 Busa and then make comparisons.
