Moisture or corrosion under gas cap 2012 ZX14R

Having problem with corrosion under the gas cap of my 2012 ZX14R. I'm only running non-ethanol gas. It's like a white or gray build up around the locking mechanism on the gas cap. It's making it hard to open gas cap and I don't want to break key. I've cleaned it but it keeps coming back. Any recommendations? This is a newer bike with less than 3k miles. Any ideas?

Thanks

John

The only way to fix this is to remove the cap, pull it apart, be careful there are 5 small springs in there! regrease the mechanism & put it back together.
Alternatively you can replace the crap OEM cap with an aftermarket item.
