Glad I am on a green bike - Suzuki leaves Europe.
Suzuki leaves Europe.
Suzuki has shut its Spanish factory and completely withdraws from European bike manufacturing. Just read this article in our local bike mag.

Don't be glad you're on a green bike. If Suzuki have shut their Spanish factory, which made small bikes and scooters, it means that all the other manufacturers are affected by the economic downturn too.
I know that in the UK Suzuki suffered a 24% reduction in large bike sales compared to last year. BMW reported a good year and Triumph are ok but the other big manufacturers are suffering.
I played a marketing game against a computer when I was on a course a few years ago. It simulated an economic downturn and we played the part of retailers. What happened was the premium end of the market survived, the cheap end survived and everyone else fell down the hole in the middle. I think that's what is happening for-real today.

That makes sense Bob, in this country the folks who don't want to work survive & the rich people survive but the one's in the middle are falling down that same hole.

As I said before the big hype of high performance bikes because of high prices and lack of sales is over... It is sad but getting to be true...keep your ZX14s and busas in good shape because it will worth a lot more money in few more years..

I hear you BobC but I think Kawi must be doing better than Suz & Yamaha, Kawi are pumping out new models like nobody else, my point is if a company is struggling financialy this wont be the case. Remember when the Zx14R was launched in the USA one of the top guys at Kawi said they are going for total domination in the market. Kawasaki motorcycles Japan has the backing of Kawasaki Heavy Industries. So Bob I am glad I am on a Green Zx14R and not a Busa hehehe.

It's always a sad day whenever we lose a motorcycle manufacturer. The innovation from competition drives the market to bigger & better things. Losing one only hurts all of us. Look at all the bikes gone forever from the british era. They fueled an entire generation to ride.

It's a bit like a game of poker though, those with a big pile of cash can up the stakes and those without throw in their hand.
Out of the big four Japanese bike makers Suzuki is alone in not having an industrial giant for backing. I don't think any of them are exactly profitable at the moment.
I'm glad I'm on a Green ZX-14R too but that's just because they're the best.
