What's the best cold riding jacket?

Hi guys,
Let me see your cold riding jacket please? I'm looking to get either icon or teknic mercury but the second seems to be leather perforated. I don't mind getting the leather perforated as long as there is a removeable inner layer like icon does.
Thank you!

To be honest IMO any jacket with a heated gerbings liner under it. I've had my heated liner and gloves for 11 years and will never be with out them. I ride in temps in the teens all the time and am never cold.

I'll second the Gerbings jacket liner. Once you have one you'll wonder how you rode without it. Don't let the price scare you....you won't care after you've gotten to use it and riding in all sorts of temps. Worth every penny IMO.
I've had mine since '05 and won't be without.

Last time i checked they where 199.00 and to me that's cheap! 40 degree temps and i can where the liner with a sweat shirt and still get to warm there is no better cold weather jacket.

thanks guy. Can I use the gerbing jacket liner underneath the leather jacket? It looks like the gerbing is a lil bulky

I where mine under a kinds of different jackets with no issues, they are not bulky. All my jackets have a removable liner and I talk that out and just where the gerbings liner in its place. if you go that route you be very happy! nice thing is a simple tshirt under the liner is all thats needed no need to layer up.

yes, that's it. If you don't get it fitted properly, then it can be bulky...but you don't want it loose on you. A little short on the sleeves, and fitted, not loose.

I have two identical jackets, one size larger for colder weather and Gerbings liner, and the other a normal fit. I don't like tight fitting jackets that restrict movement on the bike. Has worked well for many years for me.

I guess it will depend on how your current jacket fits you.

Yes sir on the heated liner and gloves I can ride for hours and still be warm. If there is no heat replaced a chill can creep in and it just gets worse and muscles slow and the brain too. Heat feels good on a cold day on the bike I can get off the bike and feel just fine even in forties. I really don't ride in colder weather because of potential ice on the road but that's just me you do what you want.

Just to keep from some confusion, Tourmaster does not make the Killmanjaro. First Gear makes it. I have a
Killmanjaro jacket also and I love it. I have some heated gear and I REALLY love it.

yup, the heated gear allows you to stay loose and relaxed. As you get cold, you tense up and that is not what you want especially riding in less than ideal conditions. It really is a huge difference with how you feel when you are not chilled.

thanks you guys for the info. I don't really like to ride when the weather drop under 40. I'm not looking to ride in an extreme cold weather condition. Here in Louisiana we don't get under 30.

I lived in LA for 12 years (Shreveport). I used the heated gear all winter down there. Makes for riding comfortable all year.

+1 for Gerbings.
Cold is relative. Since your in La, the 48th coldest state with avg 50.9 degree temps in winter, your idea of cold is probably a lot different from mine in NJ. 50 degrees or higher I don't need extra gear or liners besides what comes with my jacket for a long day on the bike. The coldest I've been out was 19 degrees or slight less. The Gerbing jacket and pants liner with long johns did the job but my toes were cold over time because I only had two pairs of sweat socks. Thermal socks would do the trick there.

another props for Gerbings! I have a liner and pants. Just a teeshirt and full leather coat and pants is all I use. If youre in warmer climate...get a thermostat to turn temp down. With 20s temps in the mountains with snow it was almost too warm. Gerbings is a few miles from me. They have a huge facility

do not get Scorpion high viz jacket. it stains easily and you can never clean it. Ventilation allows air to enter. So whatever you get make sure it is for winter only and not ventilation zippers. Cheaper jackets are better (less zippers and other non sense you never need).

I also use Firgear 90w jacket liner with Gerbings gloves. Liner is excellent got it for 179 fits true to size. Gerbing gloves not as warm as the liner but work great. I never got the controller and feel its overrated (warm outside just unplug).
