How much compression?
Im looking to do a winter build. Keeping stock bore and stroke 1st gen.
Keeping in mind it will be a drag bike. How much compression can I run, and I will be running Q16?
Can I retain stock rods, how much squish is too much (.031), stock head bolts, ptv .035 in and. 055 exh, and what cam combo? Would the 2nd gen .366 in and 1 gen .355 in on exhaust work? I was thinking 15.5 to 1. Possible?

Maybe if you get a better avatar they will. Is that much compression going to help over say 13 to 1 and a good port job like the super sport ones.

Junkyard, your options are to mill your head or put a set of pistons in if you want more compression. Forget Q16 you will only need mrx-01.
A port job, valve job, custom cams and your in the 210-225 hp range depending on how radical you want the engine.

So with 15.5 to 1 I can still run MRXO1? That would be great. The other question is how many compression points does every. 001 yield, and what kind of cam grinds do use or should I say lift numbers and duration. If its no secret . I've read that with high compression its optimal to keep low duration with a tad more lift?
Thanks for your input Jim, you do a great service guiding us in the right direction. I will be giving you a ringer soon after santa.

I'm pretty sure more compression over the norm it helps to have more duration in the cam.

Yes mrx-01 is ok as long as your a/f is good.
As for milling and rise in CR... every chamber and engine design is different. You need to cc the chamber. The valve depth will effect it dramatically.
Joe is correct.... As a general rule as static compression rises it allows you to add duration to the intake cam and move the power band higher thus make more hp.
