My first time at the track on the 14r.Missed 9.3 by 300th`s of a second

I have`nt raced for 7 months and i totally sucked.I have a lot of practice to do next year. They are forcing me to get the nhra license.

The first pass of the day = 12 years of trying on my zx12r

The bike is swb, middle hole, strapped ,push button shift ,ct exhaust, pump track map,no mirrors, 20 psi rear tire.

I could feel the rear tire spinning in 1st and second gear even when they glued the track right before the bikes.

The last pass of the day was my quickest.I was racing a fat guy on a gen 2 stretched busa. Almost a 9.3.The other 9.4 was a gen 1 zx14 set up like mine.

the vht traction compound works fantastic but without a u-soft or other drag tire i`m gonna have traction problems.I`m gonna do what i do with my 12r and buy a complete used rear wheel assembly and put a sticky tire on it. I will put it on each time i go to race.I will also run the track map for race fuel.It picks up 10 more h/p.I`m gunning for 8.9 something.Other guys are doing it and that`s my goal swb.My bike is for street use first, drag toy second.

I'd say that your expectations were not shot down by your first outing ! I'd say you did very well.

Good for you!

Hi Rick.I was hoping you would show up and give me a heads up on launching this beast.I tried some test launches out in the country but gave up for spinning. As you know the clutch feel is night and day different from the zx12r.The last 2 pass`s out of the 6 total i adjusted the clutch lever to 3 and kept my hand all the way resting at the ball.It helped me get a better feel. That`s when i ran the 2 9.4`s then the night was over.

no i don`t. i do plan on it......I know the tire was spinning but i don`t know what a slipper clutch activating feels like on a launch when it does intervene...the tire was spinning thru out 1st and second gears..I have a long way to go till i max out my set up in terms of getting the best e.t. i can myself get out of it.The guys that can do it are wizards to me.

Being that I'm a 1gen owner and have ZERO experience with the 14R, I have a question after reading about Mark's experience at the track.

I've gotta wonder if he would have run any quicker with the T/C in operation. Even at it's highest threshold setting, would it have helped at all or would it have just pulled out too much HP?

I've done it for 30 passes and the answer is no.

On the very first pass i made on the bike i forgot to turn t/c off. it was on the default #1 and i ran a 9.6 right at 156 mph.
