clutch acting strange

A few weeks ago I posted my embarrasing first attempts at drag racing the black beast. By looking at the 60' times i was either riding the clutch too long and or not getting the trottle open fast enough. Before going to Norwalk the clutch was very smooth and predictable. After the 5 passes it isn't consistent. Most shifts go just fine and then out of the blue there are a few that it feels like the clutch isn't releasing completely. clutch lever is all the way out but the rpms are up like you are on the gas with the clutch still pulled in.

Any clues? I couldn't have hurt it in 5 passes could i?

You can warp steels in one pass if you get the clutch hot enough.

Have you drained the oil and pulled the clutch cover yet? That would be the most assured method of finding the problem and wouldn't cost you much to open it up other than some oil and a gasket. I'd crack her open and take a peek to be sure, but I'm agreeing with the concensus here about warpage. Good luck, and post your findings
