Camshaft Position sensor. I would check the connector as it is probably not the sensor. Be sure and check the wires coming out of it also.

That's really it. I don't know if the camshaft sensor uses a magnet to pickup the timing off of the camshaft. It is very unlikely that the magnet would fall off of the camshaft. I would wait for someone with a bit more knowledge to reply. I had a similar problem and it was the sensor wire got cut. Good Luck

if not the sensor then wiring between sensor and ecu or sensor and frame (ground).

One wire from the sensor goes to frame ground (wire is yellow at the sensor, black/yellow where it is grounded to the frame)

The other wire goes to pin 24 at the ECU (right side plug, bottom row, 7th from the right) this wire is white/yellow at the sensor, yellow/red at the ECU.

You will need a multimeter with a Peak Hold or Min/Max/Average function. The pulses from the sensor will be happening too fast to see the voltage any other way. You will also need a lead with a little needle to pierce the insulation on the yellow/red wire on pin 24 of the ecu. Hook up one lead to this wire and the other lead to a convienient frame ground. Now set the meter for peak hold and crank the engine. You should see a peak voltage of 2.8volts DC from the sensor. Repeat the measurement several times (the manual suggests 5 or more). If you get the proper voltage each time there is something wrong with your ECU. If you do not get any voltage, or get the wrong voltage, repeat the measurement with your meter leads connected to the sensor itself (you will need to connect the yellow wire of the sensor to a ground). If you get the correct voltage at the sensor, but not the ecu then you have a problem in the wiring harness. If you don't get the correct voltage at the ecu or sensor, then the sensor is bad.
Note: some multimeters have a button on them that is just labeled "Hold". This is typically not a peak hold, but holds the current value. Make sure the meter you are using has the ability to show the peak value.

Has I cut by accident the wires coming from the camshaft sensor on gen 1, zx-10r, I would like to know where the yellow or white wires (the one come from the sensor) connect too ?? Mean on the female connector, yellow wire (of the cam sensor) connect to which one ???
