The Ninja Has Spoken But the Busa left it SMOKIN!
Before anyone gets mad, I'm just messing with you guys, mainly my brother, he is on this forum and rides a turbo zx14 and I ride a turbo Busa. We have built several of both and I like both bikes.
Congrats to Johnny, Rickey, and Jeremy! That was some good racing yesterday and they are all faster than me. Rickey has came a long way quickly on the new 14, I'm impressed with the new 14, it is without a doubt faster than the busa stock for stock. We have had several on our dyno and it's a beast! I just hope Suzuki comes out with something to compete with it.
Johnny is having a hell of a year, not only does he build the bike himself, he rides it himself and hes no lightweight jockey. Should be some good racing the rest of the year between these three.

Well that is good News .. Now if Chris can find out why the bike was losing boost on the back half of the track Ricky will get his MPH back ..

It probably went into the coolant and blew the hose off.lol

I've had that happen before, popped a head gasket and pressurized the coolant system and the pressure has to go somewhere, mine blew the overflow tube out all over my left leg at about the 1000' mark, i felt a hot liquid all over my left leg, thought it was oil until i got slowed down.

Well that coud be , but zx14 turbos don't have a history of pushing head gaskets .. But anything is possible ..

What goin on Smokin. We actually had no boost issues in the back half, I just had the tune-up too rich and it was just falling off up top. I got that taken care of and things were good for Sunday eliminations. Honestly, we never actually reached a happy medium with boost in the backhalf. We were still able to pull of some pretty consistant mid to high 7.80 passes. But, it was not meant to be. That is racing, simple as that. Johnnny won...During that pass the small o-ringed water housing on the front of the motor developed a crack and started dumping water after the 1/8 mile. No blown gaskests, or pushed heads as many of the busa fans and stone throwers have posted. Well, I guess I could be sarcastic and say it is a Kawasaki, or in the words of Forest Gump, "$hit happens". I plug the end of that housing with a n.p.t. plug, so it probably developed a stress crack during drilling and tapping. It just picked a very poor time to surface. "No Excuses" that is racing. I am very happy with the performance results we have produced with the new 14r turbo in such a short period. There is still a lot to sort and test. Take care, sincerely, Chris Jones.

Thanks Chris for the update .. You and Ricky are doing a fine job , you guys have only been to two races and won one of them .. And you did it with a brand new bike with no real testing time and still pulled of a win .. Keep up the good work and the wins will come .. Racing is racing , nobody wins them all , if they did there would be nothing to watch .. Lee.

All jokes aside, I give all respect to Johnny for what he has accomplished with his busa. He has a ton of test time and basically is at the track weekly. We will step up to the plate and gain a tenth, or whatever is needed with some arduous testing. The bad part about this is that only a handful of bikes in that class have even made it into the sevens, let known 7.80's. Pretty soon we won't have a class when you factor in the current economic conditions, travel cost, performance factor, and the cost associated with building/maintaining race bikes. That is what I am hearing from many of the riders that participate in that class. Hope is all works out. It sucks to drive 10-15 hours to a race and have only a few competitors. Chris Jones.

I've seen Johnny's bike go mid 7.6's earlier this year at local events. Not sure if it was setup to Real Street length though.
