1st time ever on drag strip, HOLY CRAP I suck

Yesterday instead of just helping my buddy with his drag Busa I took the 14r. This is the 1st time I have ever ridden down a drag strip. What looks easy proved to be utterly embarrasing and humiliating, maybe my wife is right and I should remember I'm 50. I was nervous but had a great time. I made 5 runs, ran in the stock class with all the cars so I had a fighing chance of getting a couple of extra runs in instead of getting knocked out right away.

Bike was completely stock, 43 psi in rear tire, stock height, no burnout, ran in F2 and I weigh 168 without gear. Only thing I did at all was turn the fork rebound all the way in and back out 1 click.

I really shouldn't post these as they are that TERRIBLE. I was sleeping at the light, a couple of times was like green, oh heck time to go. Even though I practice clutchless shifting quite a bit for some reason I kept grabbing the clutch lever. I'm not going to post runs 4 and 5 as they look way too much like #1, I had been up since 3pm Friday, worked a 12 hour shift and by the 5th run at 11:02pm Saturday I was flat worn out and really shouldn't have wasted the gas for that one. Never noticed the TC at all except for run #4 were I must have got slightly out of the grove as it kicked in twice. Truthfully as slow as I launched the TC shouldn't have ever been noticed.

Painfully embarrasing but tons of fun.

I had started a thread a few weeks ago about only registering 180.8 hp on the dyno but I'm guessing the 151 and 152 indicate it isn't weak by any means.

As long as you had a good time, it really didn't matter that you didn't set a world record with the bike as far as I'm concerned. I've only run the NA 14 down the track a couple of times myself with the best being 7.0 @ 110. I had a great time doing that. Sam and Dave always handle the jockey duties for our team but I'm so glad I actually took the bike down the track a few times myself. I don't care that I'm a second and a half off what they run on the bike. You shouldn't care that you were slower than what others run your first time down the track. If you want to keep at it, you'll get a LOT better. Just enjoy yourself while you're at it and try your best to keep the bike upright and on two wheels. That's really all that matters. Having a good time and making memories. Take care and have a good one.

I got my 60' down to 2.0 and ran 10.50s @ 142 my first time out. I'll probably never see that 152 mph cause I'm 270 lbs and 6'5". I'm like a huge heavy sail on the top of the bike.

For your first time out, I wouldn't say that you sucked at all. I'd say that you did very well all points considering, and you had fun & didn't get hurt. How does that suck?

10.88 @ 151,,,,,,,, do you know how fast that is on the top end? That thing is freight- training.
Just for a silly measure, look at it this way. My best run on my 08' at SWB is a 9.61@151.5. That was on a 1.63 60' time. I have a moderate amount of experience on this bike at the track.

I'd say you did just fine!

Keep at it.
