Pump fuel mixed with Methanol anyone?
Running a Supercharged ZX14 and have always run it on Sunoco 109 RON GT PLUS.
Was thinking of running it on a fuel/methanol mix...........has anybody got any experience on this?

John i used to do this in the 90's when i was racing cars , looking for an octaine boost and cooler intake temps
they did not stay mixed very well, and still had all the methanol disadvantages with rubber and water ,
acetone i think it was helped the mixing, but the maintainence pre and post race was painfull
I think if you want to use methanol, use all methanol or otherwise look at the range of oxygenated fuels now that will will pretty much match methanols hp and torque output

Yep im using oxygenated Sunoco race fuel at the moment and cant complain. Performance is brilliant and been totally reliable up till now.
Only thing is that Methanol is about .96 cents per litre whereas the race fuel im using at the moment is about 4.25 per litre!

Sure, you will save mOneh on fuel, but how much is it going to cost you (yearly) for replacing and rebuilding the motor after it eats up all the rubber and plastic parts?

and uses twice as much fuel as gasoline , so your ~$1/L may as well be $2/L

What about E85? Is it corrosive on the engine like Methanol is?
E85 is available here.

I have been running e85 for years in my zx-14's with no issues other than the stock pump not being able to keep up .. I put in a walbro pump into the stock housing and have had no issues with e85 and NOS.

A friend of mine puts VP Import in his turbocharged bike when using higher boost settings to avoid pre-ignition. He runs pump gas at low boost for riding on the road. The VP still needs a flush out after use though.
