Funny how all the Honda guys I ever met wanted to race me and take my money. Good thing they won't run with a Zook and a Kaw, huh???

Back to the topic at hand. I wonder how easy it would be to compete in this class. Not win and dominate mind you, but at least be able to win a round or two. Who thinks one can compete in this class without a zillion dollar budget and at least win a round or two every now and then? Like with a certain 06 ZX14 turbo or another certain 2005 Turbo Hayabusa? What'll it take? Consistent 7.90's?

It doesn't seem like it would take a whole hell of a lot of cash.. But it's tough with the wheelbase length they are allowed to run. But 8.0-7.90 being that short means alot of backhalf hp- alot more then 300 , and tons of skill on a stock clutch.

Thanks. Just playing around with ideas on what to do in the next couple of years. MIR and Rockingham aren't all that far away from us. We'll just have to wait and see how things work out.

No way at my weight would i run that class with a turbo busa or turbo ZX14 .. I would have to run 61 inch wheel base .. If i run spray i get to run 62 inch wheel base .. I think JT runs spray and at his weight 62 inch wheel base .. RG at 161 pounds runs 63 inches with a turbo .. Johhny at 200 pounds gets 66 inches .. Johnny my may bit a bit under 200 pounds so he may only be running 65 inches .. The rules in this class are very tuff .. Hand clutch , no lock up of any kind ... ..Liter bikes also get extra wheel base over the big bore bikes .. And if you run a Yamaha or Honda get 2 extra inches of wheel base no matter what power adder they use..
Tuff class for sure , and the top guys all run very very close numbers to each other .. Kind of like Pro stock cars , the one with the hole shot wins because they are all so close to each other ET wise ..
Money ? yes you better have lots of it to run that class if you want to be in the game .. This is not ET street where us poor boys can play..

I have a friend that ran in that class the year before last and he ran it with a basically stock ZX-14 with head work, thin head gasket, and nitrous. He was competitive but now the class is a lot tougher. Most of the 14s out there are bored and stroked, big throttle bodies, etc... Another friend is messing with this year on a stock ZX-10 with nitrous, but he hasn't been able to do anything. But as stated above the hardest thing is the wheelbase. Look at Teasley, he is running 7.70's with 61" of wheelbase. David Mercks has ran 7.80's sitting at 67" but he weighs 220lbs. A couple of years ago you could compete with low 8's, now it would take at least consistent 7.90's to be competitive.

You all are rite , this class is tough and you must spend money in the rite places. You also must have a very smart and reliable speed shop pointing you in the correct direction as you pursue 7.90's. It's not easy but me and Troy Jackson will get there.
