Swing Arm

Got a few question on extending the new 14r.. I don’t think i want to do bolt-on this time and rather just do a full arm maybe with a bottle bracket since i got a few nitrous bottle hanging around. I think with the nitrous bottle i can run a shifter as well as a 30-50 shot one day.. I have a few questions

Who are you guys using for swing arms?

What type of arm are you using? (Two years ago when i was still on the scene it seemed everyone was using the ADAMS type swing arm now it seems cromoly is the most popular)

Why are you using that type?
How much for the arm?
How long does it take to get one?

Adams makes a chromoly arm, as well as Macintosh and Evil. Personally I would get a Adams or Mac,

Thanks man was able to google them..

Tell me what is a good price on a swing arm? I see there are a lto of options.

i kno wi need one with a bottle bracket. But i see most offer zx14 owners one with the air tank built in to the swing arm. Is this a must have/good option. I have never had the traditional air shifter on any of my bikes, but always had the high pressure one driven by nitrous/CO2. Is there enough room on the new 14 to put a compressor on the bike to build pressure in the arm to operate an air shifter. If it was a perfect work I think this would be a good option because you can unhook your nitrous and still run on motor with your shifter and any grudge event

Buy an Adams strong arm. Its lite, strong, and proven. It is not the cheapest, but there are certain parts you should not buy based on price alone.

I have an Evil arm .. It's a great arm BUT it needs some work to make the bearings fit .. It did come nicely power coated with a lower brace , bottle bracket , a built in air tank and chain guard .. all for 750.. Right after i got the arm Mac came out with a new arm just like Evils Arm for 700 bucks .. Had i known this i would have waited and got the Mac arm .. I really like the arms i got from Mac over the years .. But the Evil arm with a little extra work is very nice arm also.. Tig welds are great and the power coat was very nice ..

Talk to the guys at evil swing arm. Thinking about getting a 4-8” swing arm from them. The only down side is I want one with a nitrous bottle mount which they have readily available. However they say that you have to place a nitrous bottle lower than normal in the swingarm bottle bracket because of clearance issues between the nitrous bottle and the bikes fuel pump. Have any of you guys experience this.

Also what is the best chain for the money and where to buy?

While i have the wheel off i am thinking of dong a gearing change i am 290lbs any recommendations?

Lastly, what did you guys do to extend the KTRC cable i will probably set the bike up at 6" i don’t know if i will have to extend this cable or not?

Don't know about the bottle .. mine has a 24 oz C02 bottle where you would put the n20 bottle ,,
Only one chain to buy zzz 530 gold , Spencers cycles was great prices on the ZZZ chain ..
The T/C wire is longer than you need , mines 10 inch arm and the wire works fine ... You may need a longer brake line if you go all the way to 8 inches ..
gearing , well i really have no clue what you would need at your weight ..

here is the thread for the new sport mac arm ..

http://www.bikeland.org/board/viewthread.php?FID=27&TID=65775

You have been asking us for a while now to offer a lower budget swingarm, well here it is:
The new “Sport” arm.

This swingarm is constructed from 4130 Chromoly, and unlike any of our other swingarms, which come as complete units; this is a “base model” production style swingarm in which you use your axle and bearings. It comes with 4” of adjustment, a spacious air tank, 4 hole axle adjusters, rear brake hook up, NOS mount and powder coated black. It will be offered with or without underbracing. We have chain guards, NOS or CO2 brackets, chain rollers and tire huggers as options that you can get when you order your arm or at a later date.
Also, this arm is going to be offered on a trade-in program, which will allow you to upgrade to a different style arm or get a longer arm as your needs progress. This arm will allow you to get in and stay in
the “Sport” of motorcycle drag racing.

Suzuki non-under braced Sport arms are $600.00
Suzuki under braced Sport arms are $700.00
Kawasaki non-under braced Sport arm are $650.00
Kawasaki under braced Sport arms are $750.00

I have a question.. One being went i stretched my gen1 14 i might had 200 mile on the chain and i just bought a new 150 link chain. TO be honest i still have the chain is been in a rubber maid tote since 2006. I am almost sure it’s in good shape. I now have a bike with just over a 100 mile son it.. Is it okay to add links to the chain or should i buy a brand new one. I may could use some links out the old chain but more than likely i would just buy some extra links if it’s okay to do so

Question going to go with the MAC economical swing arm.. I think am going to do the 4-8”.. I have a question on sprockets. Since I am in there I think I am going to go up to a 44T tooth sprocket. What do you guys think. I haven’t checked but I think stock is 42T. I think at about 6” and a little gearing may help the bike propelled my big arse through the atmosphere that much better…
