2006 seat stuck, need help please
Seat is stuck and I have a full fairing kit coming in the mail. The rear tip latch isnt stuck and will barely click in if alot of pressure is applied. The two middle latches wont budge. I can get my hand in there to feel the wire and the turn, but do not know the trick in getting those two unlocked. The manual doesnt show troubleshooting, just the basic function of opening with the key. If you or someone else have experienced this issue and have fixed this, let me know please. Thank you all .

I was going to point you to this site to do a search, but it appears to be down - maybe later?

Anyway, as I remember, it involved cutting/drilling a hole in the plastic fender from the bottom and putting a screwdriver through to push the latch.
Obviously, it would be helpful to look at another 14 with the seat off to see what needs to be done.
____________
You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

here is the link you was talking about the drill.
Thanks Joe, I finally have time to work on it today, fairings here in a week. I'll let yall know how how it goes. I already see the issue on your picture, I put the (gray) bracket on backwards. CRAP.

I found the issue. If you have an issue getting this seat off, follow the pictures as steps:
Also, the first picture shows the problem. All the other pictures show how to resolve it.

Step one: Get a LONG flathead screw driver and a hammer.

Step 2: Get behind your bike, on the right side. Your pushing this black hinge forward, to the left. Put something under the seat to prop it up to make it easier . ( Brick, block, somethin)

Once you get in here, look down where you twist the key, ull see the other end of the wires. Just the fact it isnt in place made all this havoc. Ensure you install your seat right in the future. This is how it is supposed to look. Or else it will not work.

If you have issues with the BACK single latch, I can almost guarentee that the rubber blocks under your seat near it "popped out" a little. Just take a pen or something pointy to push in. Kinda like reinstalling an old wellnut.
I HOPE THIS HELPS! I WAS ABOUT TO LOSE MY MIND!
Thanks guys for all the pictures and help. Couldn't have figured it out without yall. Leave feedback if this thread has helped anyone in the near future .

Also, if you can. Twist the middle "gray " bracket where the main double hatch is "around". This will make it easier if it ever gets stuck in the future. Joe Cool posted a picture in this thread earlier, its the big Gray block bracket with 4 holes on top. Just turn it upside down.
