first set of plugs were black, as black as can be, put in an old good set, no change, will try a new set 2 morrow. First time it happened, drove down the street, turned around, played with throttle, the bike came back to normal, rode all day. Never ran right again. Thanks for the input. Any other suggestions?

Well if were a stick coil it would toss a code .. Do a check to see if you have any stored codes first .. I don't know how many miles you have on the bike but it could be a plug on it's way out .. Might be time for a new set ..
If everything checks good and new plugs don't fix it i would try running some seafoam or strong injector cleaner . Add two gallons of fresh fuel add the injector cleaner to that and ride the beans out of it ... . It's possible that an injector may be stuck or sticking ..

If that is no help i would do a compression check and rule out a tight valve or engine problem .. It's really hard to tell what is wrong with your bike with me seeing it or hearing it .. It could be something very simple that you just over looked .. I hate to see you get burned by the dealer if you don't have to ..

One more thing ... Have you looked at the air filter ?? I have seen them completely stopped up in a very short time ... It's worth a look ..

Thanks Smoke. 40,000 km, no codes showing & don't know how to check for codes stored. Added 2 gallons of fresh fuel & wynns (out of seafoam). Valves were just done, 6 tight. Still snow here in Sudbury, can't ride the beans out of 'er. Thanks

Big Nickel did you check your air filter like Smokin suggested? Sounds simple but the 14's plug up filters quick with the ram air set-up. And a badly plugged filter will give the problems you're having. You can't run these air filters like you do a car filter.

You didn't over oil you're K&N did you? Personally I would disconnect the negative battery cable for a couple minutes and reconnect to reset ecu. These things are basically computers, you'd be suprised what a reset can fix
Ask Smokin, I believe he had a wierd issue on his new 14 he couldn't figure out, but after an ecu reset it was back to running like new.

sounds like you have either a fuel or fire problem... obviously your fuel is not getting completely burnt in the cylinders...hence fuel near your exhaust outlet. could be plugs bad or coil going....make sure your getting fire on all plugs from all coils..... this is what i do but its up to you... what i usually do to make sure im getting fire on all plugs and coils is to remove a plug one at a time... insert it into the stick coil and place the spark plug close to metal... crank it for a short second. you should see spark.

or could be a stuck injector... meaning its dirty as hell....

since its snowing... pick that rear wheel up in the air and ride that way... just make sure you have enough vent... bad exhaust. lol...

also like the fellas stated before.. check all your connections... try a quick run without the air filter... maybe the filter is bad. i worked on my buddies bike before... ran like crap with air filter in. removed it and it was back to normal...

they were wet with oil right? thats means you got a head gasket leak. what color where the plugs electrode when you pulled them out? where they dark black? spotted? dry white color? thats another good way to see if your running rich or lean. the color of the plugs

didn't seem like oil, more like fuel, plugs were black, new plugs in, fired right up but still black smoke when you rev it, didn' t get to run it long enough yet

does this sound familiar..... idles fine but sounds crappy like it bogs or misfires when you twist the throttle??? maybe the stick coils are firing fine at idle but when it comes to rapid fire they dont fire like they should.... do you have someone nearby that can lend you their stick coils?? id hate for you to buy new ones then not need them.....

Has bike been sitting months? Gas maybe gone Bad , gumming up parts ?
Maybe sticking or Bad TPS, or sticking Regulator, not bleeding off excess pressure ??

Check the vacuum hose that goes to the map sensor. Sounds like it might have slipped off. It is located near the throttle bodies next to the valve cover.
