A little more 1/8 mile testing tonight ..

Nothing real good to report , numbers were in the mid to high 5.40s @ 128 and change .. It was pretty hot ( 80s ) and muggy as hell .. No changes from last week other than i put my stock ECU back in the bike ... I just wanted to test my air shifter to make sure i got all the bugs out of it .. Good news I had no missed shifts and everything worked as it should .. I wanted to up the shift point to 10900 from the 10800 chip i'm been using ... No dice , could not find a 10900 chip so i ran with the 10800 chip all night ..

Now the bad news ... Sunshine speedway opened in 1958 by Big Daddy Don Garlits is done , Next weds night it closes forever ... A part of history is history ... The guy that leasted the track from the County is going to use it for the parking lot for the defunked Round track that close do to low turn out years ago .. He is going to spend 2 millon to redo the round track that nobody will ever use .. Top that off with the fact the County is charging him 96k a year rent for a track that nobody is going to ever use ...Round track racing has been dead here for 20 years ...Some people have more money than brain cells ...

This will cut my testing to 2 times a month , maybe less .. The cost of 100 mile round trip weekly is to much for me .. Add to that and hour and a half each way and toll bridges make it too costly to go every week .. The other problem will be because of Sunshine closing the Bradenton Motorsports Park Bradenton will be packed with people , so the days of getting 8 to 10 runs in a night will be over ... If i'm lucky i may get 3 to 5 runs in if they don't have too many oil downs a crashes ..

What i will have to do is test 2 or 3 mods at a time unlike now where i can test each mod one at a time .. Well guys that is why they call it drag racing , Because sometimes it's just a drag .. Have no fear , i will be testing but the testing may come a little slower ..

...The bike guys i talked to tonight all said they are going back to street racing when the track closes .. I will not be one of them ...This track helped kept the street races off the street .. The County has made a big mistake leasing to this guy and letting him shut down the drag strip .. Guess it time to move back to TX and have 4 or 5 tracks to pick from to race at..

Lee,

You still have Lakeland, you can get runs there, but their brake area is kinda short for your MPH.....

Lee, the 10,900 chip might not work due to in first gear it rev's sooo quick & 10,900 is flirting next to the rev limiter it usually tags it& then a miss shift.. Usually on the auto shifters & going from first, you want to leave almost 200rpm from rev limiter.. We have had trouble at times(good HP days, reving quick) leaving in 2nd & the 10,900 givning trouble on the 2nd -3rd shift.. Just our 2 cents

Yawn, ho hum, just 5.40's .............

Funny how that is "normal" now. Not too long ago that would have involved nitrous, race fuel, motor work, or maybe all of the above.

Come on back to Texas. Kennedale on Weds, Denton on Thurs. and Fri., Redline on Sat., Yello Belly on Sun, and throw in Ennis every now and then.

Kind of short?? If you don't mind slamming into a concrete barrier!!!!! NOT a safe track to run!!

This just sucks!! Got my bike going back together to run the track, and now no track! Bradenton is a 2 hour drive each way for me. Orlando is 2.5 hours each way. Looks like its time for that Harley bagger to go bar hoppen.

That really sucks Lee.The local one here is for sale or lease. If my local track closed I would sell my bike even though another is an hour away. I know 3 closed in Texas this past year and we aint out of the woods yet..

I think it's all about the high cost of glue, and power for the lights, and obviously low turnout. Owners that have their tracks paid for will obviously be able to make it a lot longer. When the economy is bad, the toys are always the first to go.

I would still like to see you back in Texas lee.

Well you may be right about that ... I was going to get the ECU reflash for 500 more RPMs , so that should work ..
Problem is nobody makes 10900 chip .. They go from 10800 right to 11000 and skip 10900 .. So i'm going to need that reflash before i try that 11000 chip ..
