According to the service manual it says the rear wheel sensor must send 45 signals to the ECU at the 1 rotation of the wheel, so I don't think you would want to mess with the slots on the rim either

If it is reading a signal triggered by the ,..45..points of the wheel, , if it is a magnetic tigger,

Gen 1's the speedo was tiggered by points of countershaft sprocket nut , you ground off corners so it would read fewer signals, didn't they just move.. .signal trigger ... to the rear???

Stock ratio is 17 x 42 = 2.47 = ....Overall 3.98...,wheel rotation to Crankshaft, that limits MPH to... 194 MPH.... @ 10,600

MPH limiter is set at .................. 186MPH.......that is only 10,160 RPM....

Rear wheel star has 45 points....

a 17 x 45 = ratio of 2.65 = .....overall 4.23.....= .....185 MPH...@ 10,600 is this a COINCEDENCE

Grind 3 POINTS off star, it will tell the ECU, only... 42 signals.. , versus 45, ratio changes to........3.98.... 194 @ 10,600....

17 x 40 signals =... 3.63 ratio....wheel to crank =.....211MPH

ECU only knows what it is , signaled, grinding worked before , ...who's the first to try ??
Might have to grind off front star wheel to match back , so ECU won't see different , for TC

wheel sensors produce ac current when the wheel spins. the faster the wheel spins the higher the voltage. the ecu converts the ac voltage to a digital signal so in can calculate wheel speed. resistors for each wheel should work without screwing up the t/c. abs bikes could have some slow speed braking issues though. don't know for sure cuz i've never tried to manipulate a wheel signal but would be worth a try and is alot cheaper than screwing up a set of rotors
