quote: First off, before you guys throw me under the bus. I am not paid by or sponsored by Kawaski by no means. I have sought sponsorship from them to no avail. However, I have raced the zx14 for the last few years (Jones Performance Cycles; riders John Fernandez, Todd Schnitz, Richard Gadson, and occasionaly Rickey) and developed turbo systems, and several other products for the zx14 and other bikes. As a privateer, my efforts with the zx14's have won a National Championship and won nearly 15 national races. I chose the zx14 as a building platform simply because it was one mean unit, and secondly I was bored out of my mind bulilding/racing Hayabusa's and wanted a change. I can honestly say back in 2006-2007 I remember less than five zx14's being contested in the national classes at AMA dragracing events. That soon changed once the potential was realized. Now that you have a little back ground about me, here is what I leading up to. The efforts that Rickey Gadson has put forth to provide test results and data about the new zx14r are true and sincere. I have already done dyno testing on the new zx14r, along with having one tore completly apart to study and prep/build the motor for racing. Simply put there is really no way to compare the old zx14 to the new zx14r in a stock format. Kawasaki has provided the world with the baddest production bike on the market. PERIOD. Rickey is a paid employee of Kawasaki, however as a professional I don't think that he would risk his dignity by providing anyone here or elsewhere with false information about the performace of the new 14r. I have known Rickey personally for years, and just like any other human when you put forth a campaign to support an agenda/product and it is greeted with negativity; IT HURTS!! We actually spoke directly about this situation a few days ago. I admire Kawaski for the forging ahead and building new bikes such as the zx10 and 14r in such bleak economic conditions. We must be thankful sometimes; drop the egos and negativity. We are truely lucky to have a cool forum such as zx14.com, and members such as Rickey, Brock, Smokin, and many others to provide valid input and help to those that share the same interest and love for motorcycles. Sincerely, Chris Jones
Well said.
Please remember that the vast majority of people here are appreciative of information reported on the 14 /14R. We believe, for example, Rickey's numbers and do not try to distort the facts or argue using only half-truths.
All the negativity is coming from only a handful here, but becuase of their prolific posting of garbage in every thread, it makes it seem a lot worse than it is. Just hit the "IGNORE" button on those few, either literally or figuratively, and you'll see that this is a much better place.

I DO FIND IT INTERESTING that Kawi is leading the way with new IMPROVED models in these hard times when other companies are releasing the same old stuff with very few and what most would consider insignificant upgrades for a higher MSRP.
Kawi is lucky to have a man like RG representing them. They have come a long way. Hell when i was a kid they had a HUGE poster of DAISY DUKE (i cant remember her real name) that my grandfather had hung in the dealership, sitting on some bike or four wheeler ( could have been a three wheeler its been so long) advertising for team green.

You know really as fast as Gadson is they could have scouted for a feather weight like PeeWee Gleason used to do. That would probably have gotten a little or so better numbers I mean think of a 110 lb rider on the bike if one exists with the skills. And the grand intro at a sea level track. For all the criticism Kaw gats for intro numbers it looks like their downplaying it a little.
