I agree with you Brent .. We talked about that very thing the other day .. As soon as i get my ZX14R i will put that to the test ..

Yeah, those 120 lb guys can make anything fly. Even easier when there is 30 less hp. Put him on my bike and I' m sure Mitchan would run 8.50's all day long..

apples to apples that day Rickey zx14r 8.99 156mph .. Brandon 08 busa 8.85@157mph ..that why I'm not impressed wit the zx14r .. oh and don't forget Leonidas stock motor gen 1 zx14 160mph .. ninjaboys zx14 ran what 150+mph with a 200lb rider.. the zx14r should be running 165mph like roys bike ..
i've race that kid alot and i know for a fact he cuts better than 1.50 60ft's on that stock wheel base bike .. and he's what about 40lbs lighter
Hell my fat ass went 151 with a 20+MPH head wind and the DA was 2500+' you were there that day when you guys put my ass on the trailer.

Keep in mind it's a SWB bike with a lot more torque than the other bikes you are referring to. Hard to Ride.A few tricks wiwill get it to launch easier.
quote:Have you people lost your collective minds? When Rickey won the AMA Dragbike SuperSport National Championship riding for me in 2009 it took us nearly half a season on a meticulously prepared, hand massaged RACE BIKE with over 200 dyno pulls and close to 100 drag strip passes before we could break into the 8 second zone. This was accomplished using a SuperSport spec race engine and chassis (including a $2K Dragshock) that made 204 RWHP on my dyno…. Now he rolls up on a damn-near stock show bike with billet aluminum hand grips, blinged-out front wheel, a 10 lb. billet/clear clutch cover using a make-shift ZX-10R power commander and pulls it off in a HANDFUL of passes, and you aren’t impressed?! The only thing missing from the Internet these days is a reality check button to slap some folks up the side of their heads… okay, just kidding (sort of.)
My apologies if our testing didn’t go down per the schedules of others… the reality is that ONE ZX-14R is available on the east coast and Bob Fisher from Roaring Toyz was kind enough to allow me and Rickey to borrow it for some testing. We were at a fantastic facility on one of the best prepared tracks anywhere, with a dyno on site (thanks, Hitman) --- it would have taken armed guards to keep me and Rickey away from that bike! We will be covered in snow by the time any bikes arrive to us; this testing was about gaining knowledge, plain and simple. We decided to share the live experience with all, because that’s what people prefer these days, and I hope you enjoyed the experience as much as I did.
BTW, the Roaring Toyz PROTOTYPE machine started its life at 173 RWHP on a model 250i dyno in bone stock form and is making almost 205 RWHP as we have it configured now. Take that for what it’s worth… I personally can’t wait to get my hands on the production version. Our testing isn’t finished; it’s just beginning.

wee
That's the part that confused me.
1. If the 14R makes 173 stock, then that's only maybe 8 HP more than the old 14 stock. Not good.
2. Going the other way, if it makes 205 on MR12, and we heard ealier that the 14R makes 190 at the wheel stock (pump gas), subtract 8 HP (?) for MR12 and that's 197, so the pipe and tune is only worth 7 HP???
3. Another route - Brock's Diary, Part 2. The 06 made 195.60 vs 204.78 for the 2012, so we have 9 HP more with both uncorked. That same 06 went 9.09 @ 154.85 ( in worse conditions) vs. the 14R at 8.99 @ 156.50.
The "facts" here are all pointing at an extra 7 - 9 HP out of the 14R, not 20+ ...................
I know, different dynos, different break-ins, different tunes, just getting started with the 14R, pre-production etc.
I'm still buying one .........................

I have read this whole thing and some guy's just see things one way and will never be open to something different. Oh well, Me personally I had a 2000 zx 12 built up and had since new loved it, bought a turbo busa making 350 hp at the wheel, liked that too, but unfortunately the busa put a rod through the case at the last race.
For me not worth it to fix sold it as is, needed 15 dollar a gallon gas to race, also. I only really want to race 9.50 and 8.90 index, and of course ride around on the street. With the new 14r I will be able to do all that with one bike and pump gas and STOCK motor.
So I sold my zx 12 and busa, now before anyone beats me up I am not your average rider, I am part of the heavy hitters (265) unsuited, but I love to race, so with a pipe, commander v, air shifter, arm and dryshot this bike should make me happy and every now and then let some of my horse jockey buddies run it to see what it will and Bently is one of them.
I will let him do some passes and we will see what, happens cause he knows how I set up my bikes. I am guessing low 8's are possible with the internals of the motor left alone. I can't wait the new bike is supposed to be here in a couple of weeks (lime green le.) I have had both and right now I am in a position to buy a new bike and for the dollar amount on a NEW bike I perosnally feel it is the best money spent for me. I think both Suzuki and Kawasaki make fantastic machines you have power, handling, braking and many others thins that in a car you would have to spend stupid money too even come close, this forever competition between Suzuki and Kawasaki is nothing but a good thing because they keep giving us new stuff that quickens the heart beat at that is awesome COME ON SPRING, everybody have a good turkeyday

well I had a little extra time this morning. So I run the numbers between RG's 14-roaring toys bike 8.991, and Brock's BMW with JT own it 8.971 the big difference is the 40 pounds in rider's weight! take that 40 pounds off the 14 and you have a ET 8.82. the BMW is a fast bike, but you put a little weight on it Like most of us are And all of a sudden it's not so impressive. The back half time of RG's Run was 3.129 et couple that with an estimated eight Miles time of 5.55 with mods = 8.679 et with a175 pound rider. put a rider like JT on it and it will probably run 8.30s-40s. And yes, that's fast, but around my part of the woods "nobody" runs motor and 20 hp is only one jet size in my NOS for my 06 ZX 14RR so I'll keep old red and see you at the track.
quote:Just wanted to chime in.
Our 2012 ZX14R made 178.59 stock
On the same dyno the strongest of 7 gen 1 ZX14's was 157
There's our 20+ HP!
Thanks.
Encouraging!

Man look at the tack and watch as rickey pulls away from him. Man that make for a good video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6f6CXcoQHgA
