Unexpected look of McIntosh

Great company, but damn are they beat to shit in the building category. Wow, my friend and I were shocked how shitty their place of business looks.Cracks from foundation to the roof in places. Place is only about 40 feet deep and 20 feet wide. We were surprised how run down and beat to shit the place is. Figured I'd take a picture to share with this wonderful internet community of 14 riders. Doesn't begin to capture how fucked up the place looks. We were on a ride and figured we'd stop by to check it out. We walked all around it and it is nasty...LOL.

How many swing arm sales does it take to build a 1/2 million dollar building and keep it open?

So what's the problem it's a fuckin machine shop the machines inside are worth more than the building and they do the work that needs to be done so why should they have a better building.

Kind of a fucked up post bashing the "look", not the quality. Don’t judge a book by its cover sums it all up. I don’t know about you but Terry McIntosh is at the top of my list to mod swing arms. He is a skilled fabricator, and does great work! Many of the people who have bought half million dollar buildings in the past 10 years have been falling by the waist side due to the economy. After all who would be paying for his half million dollar building? His prices are competitive now, after all Rent/Taxes/Labor/material/electric are all factors that affect the final price. Be careful what you wish for, you might get it.....

Who cares if Terry, (Mr. McIntosh) even works out the back of his truck. His products are some of the best on the market, if not the best. Look at what pretty much every pro-street race bike has installed. Terry McIntosh has been around for years and is very innovative in his services, a very strong support to the sport of motorcycle racing, and not to mention an extremly nice individual. Im sorry to rant, I just hate to see post that make attempts to belittle any individual that puts pride and passion into their work/business. Never judge a book by its cover! I knew a local guy by the name Dwaine Williams that ported cylinder heads in a small shop like that in the middle of nowhere. Guess what, his heads made big power and guys came from all over to seek his services because he took pride in what he done. THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS, "PRIDE" IN YOUR WORK AND CUSTOMER SUPPORT. BTW, I have a small shop in a country town that has produced some National Championship bikes. PRIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sincerely, Chris Jones.

I don't think the OP was intended to critisize Terry - his first words were "great company".
Just surprised at the premises.
I prefer doing business with people who put effort into the product and not pass overheads onto their customers.
Here in the UK I had my seat cut by Tony Archer who works out of a wooden shed!
His reputation for quality and customer service is all over the internet.
These guys get our support because they DESERVE IT!

Rule #1 of any business is keep your overhead low but that doesn't mean you can't throw a coat of paint on the building when it needs it. LOL

Damn guys, don't be so quick to judge me either. Yes, I do judge businesses by their cover at times. I will not eat at a restaurant that looks beat to shit. I already know McIntosh is a great company. Hell I have their arm on my bike. I live about 30 minutes east of the place and wanted to see where my arm came from; that is all. I know all about machine shops too. I do CNC programming, set-ups, and operations for my job at an aerospace company. I love the field and realize that all places are different, but when it comes to machining it doesn't matter what roof is covering it...it's the product that matters. The machines and the workers make the product, not the building.

I was just surprised by their shop, that is all. Maybe my adjectives were a poor choice, but I am not a softy so I apologize if it offended any of you guys. Damn...toughen up.

Since I don't personally know Mr. McIntosh I can not and will not pass judgement on his particular situation. I can tell you that I've been in situations where I didn't own the building and had little to no control of how the outside of the building looked. He makes a quality product at a reasonable price and treats his customers with dignity and respect. What more could you ask of him? Thank you Terry for your support of our sport.

I have eaten in resturants that look like no-one gives a dayum but the food taste better than quizine from 4 bean rated places! I understand the thought of haveing a nicely painted facility. I'm sure the owner would not mind donations towards the buffing of his penny. I'm also sure if guys that disprove of the looks got together(with permisson) and painted the place, the owner would be appreciative.

Doesnt seem to me like you were bashing, just commenting on the surprising look of the place.
Personally, if this were all I knew about the company, I would question if I should buy anything from them. HOWEVER, having heard their reputation, I will not hesitate when I am in the market for a swingarm.
As far as restaurants, what the food tastes like is no where near as important to me as sanitation. You catch whatever you want in the nasty roach motel, I would rather eat PB&J than eat at some of the restaurants I have seen the kitchens of.

I bet trac dynamics is in one hell of a building out in Cali, rember them? They treated people like shit from their nice building, how many trac arms do you see now? Terry doesn't need a big building to give him purpose, his arms speak for themselves. I get that you weren't bashing him but the bottom line is as long as he keeps making the quality arms that he is making he could make em in a port a john for all I care.

I love the look of the place remind's me of the machine shop that I took engine's to 30 years ago! bounce across the tracks to a beat up cinder building, but their work was good, and aforadable.

I fully understand that a business should have a nice presentation.
Terry has a TRACK presentation, and a web presentation with quality reputation.
I didn't expect his building to need paint, but some on my stuff needs work too. LOL.
