Now on the other hand delivering the goods with a big leap forward like the Busa did sells LOTS of bikes and creates a huge loyal following...........Kawasaki was almost always the clear horsepower leader till the Busa came out in 1999.........lets hope they are reclaiming their undisputed horsepower dominance!!!
yep , Booza has been the leader for 11 years, make it 12! lol

If all were talking about is peak HP numbers then.....
Suzuki made the most powerful bike for 1 year in the last 20+ years.
The zx11 was the highest hp bike thru the 90's up to 1996
Then the cbr1100xx in 1997-1998
Then the busa in 1999 (big jump)
Then the zx12r in 2000
Then the zx14 in 2006
Still the zx14 in 2012 (big jump)

Horsepower is reflected in trap speeds, the busa has always been lower untill 08, then it really came down to the rider, but the new 1441 in the ninja obviously raised the bar ro where the bikes arent really close anymore.
____________
06 ZX14 65"
Best 1/8 mile 5.68@126.4 on a 1.41 60'
Best 1/4 mile 8.87@152.7 on a 1.47 60'

my 08 Booza would trap less than my 09 14, 1/8 and 1/4 mile.

Good info on the nineties bikes as I was retired from bikes for that period. Yea all these ZX14 owners are gonna stop buying stop buying all these incrementally better bikes. We have been duped for too long and were not going to take anymore little bit better bikes. They owe me a new free one or at least a discount or a good trade in on my old one the sooner the better. I've had it because I know they can do better like Honda...

Yeah but the ZX 11 and Busa raised the bar significantly enough and were dominant for so long that they had cult followings................FYI I owned a ZX 12 and I'm a Kawasaki guy, so I know the ZX 12 made a horse or two more than the Busa and was comparable..........but it didnt match the Busa's big engine torque and it wasnt a big leap forward like the ZX 11 or Busa which is why you saw 10 Busa's for every Zx 12 and which is why many considered the Busa the dominant bike till the Zx 14 came out.
I have to agree with Jim if this bike is asa badass as it sounds and raises the bar 20 horses your gonna see ALOT of ZX14R's sold vs Busa's over the next few years............in my opinion its not a horse or two or a subtle refinement that creates legends and sells lots of bikes its big leaps forward and clear dominance that does!!!

I wouldnt say 11 years but it was over the ZX 12 even though the ZX 12 made a horse or two more it couldnt match the Busa's torque..........the Zx 14 was a small step forward over the Busa but the Gen 2 Busa erased any clear dominance between the two.............this 14R seems like a significant jump in performance...............the best we've seen since 1999 like Jim said.

I hate how they made the non SE have the flat black lower fairing like the 06 models. I agree they should have introduced more colors with the 2012.

What's the lie? You expected a 300lb motogp bike? Don't understand the topic.
Sat on the bike - fit and finish is excellent. Spoke to several who have ridden it - power is said to be amazing. Kawi had one goal in mind and that was to be undisputably faster than the busa - appears they have done it with brute force. Will be interesting.

Some of you guys crack me up. Since it's obviously so easy to design a bike that will meet your exact expectations, why don't you go work for Kawi and make it happen?? It's obvious yall could have done so much better with the design.
Don't like it??......then don't buy the damn thing....it's that easy.
Sorry to vent, but its like that, every time a new model comes, nothing but the damn whining....then a year later you're on here bragging about it...same ole crap all the time, things never change.

So Wee, Why do you think the Gen 2 Busa is slower.........is it the clutch?.............does it have more torque and wheelie?......................the ONLY time I ever dragraced against a Gen 2 Busa it was a brand new bike with less than 200 miles and a brand new rider who was launching like a total Puss........so of course he got his ass handed to him by everyone on the track............From my experience the Zx 14 was clearly faster than a Gen 1 Busa I never lost to a Gen 1 Busa at the dragstrip or on the street,.

as JZX is always saying, trap speed indicates hp, a dyno might have a gen II Booza the king, but on the track the 14 makes more mph, I'm talking about me on both bikes, there will be riders that say one bike is faster than the other, it didn't matter what brand it was I wanted the fastest so the Booza got sold, yes I replaced the 2 piece clutch cam so launches could be done at high rpm, I hope you never lost to a gen I Booza, a 14 will run off and leave it, the gen II is very close to a 14 but I want the bike in the lead, 2-3 mph is allot at the drag strip.
