If you drag race at all the best place to spend your cash would be a good high flowing fan to cool the bike between runs. Its much cheaper and works lots better than any of the other bull.

I'm thinking MUCH more leveraging than airbox insulation would be cooling the gasoline in the tank to 40F or so.

This would significantly drop intake temp...

Jim??????

Yea for sure. The race fuels do a good job of lowering intake charge temps even if the fuel is not cold due to the evaporation of the fuel and the heat it absorbs to do so. Typical vapor phase cooling just like refrigerant systems.
Cooling the fuel helps. However, we have seen icing in the carbs on some circle track engines causing carburetor issues.

The blanket wouldn't have much real effect at large throttle openings and or higher rpm where the air has little time to absorb much heat.
But in stop and go traffic and slow speed riding its noticeable.

Drag racing i wouldn't really worry about it. Your just going WOT and the frame doesn't get a chance to even get hot.

I may not drag my bike, but I do drag my car.... any vehicle warmed up to operating temp and ran hard will build some heat. heat transfers in many ways. I only like wool in the winter! LOL!

Im thinking of using some 1200 degree paint around airbox section(under, sides and possibly the top portion) of the frame, then(after it dries) install the blanket.
