It was worth it... man it looks Mint.. Pic of my 1986 FJ1200 had it 25 years and 60,000 miles.
Ported/decked head, Slotted cam gears(degreed in) 40MM carbs,Andrews coil, Falicon Clutch Hub, +4 teeth on rear sprocket... etc I still putt around on it but I went back stock gearing and baby it now.
I use spank stock GS 1150 with back then. I had a 1980 GS1100 I sold to buy this.

Lab 3, Wow I use to have a FJ1200 back in 1986. It ran 10.90's to 11.0's back in the day here in Houston. Sold it and got a New GSXR 1100.

I will call ole man Rash at D&D and ask who they use now. When I was there we used Jet Hot and had them coat inside too. If you rub on it with Simichrome paste, ceramic wil shine like lightly polished nickle.
Ronnie I really "Want" that CBX (like a 100 others)..... Dude.............. Ride that gooding looking bike.

Oooh, that's purdy, I like that six into six exhaust, wicked looking.
Wheelie, Jet Hot coating is where I'd go for ceramic coating, some of my beemer buddies have way over 100k on their pipes & they still look new. They have inside & out coatings & just a few minutes after shutting off their bikes you can actually touch the pipes, still warm but not instantly melting your flesh either. It's some pretty amazing shit.

To bad the CBX is a looks, sound only bike , they don't turn ! or stop! something fun to ride about them , one of the worst handling bikes of all 23 owened, better than a kawi 750 trippel, but not as fast!
beautiful bike you have, but not my 7 grand worth! do the smart thing dump it for 5 grand ,to some fool that can screw with all the littel maint., issues, like the carb leaking into #1 cyl , see ya got the plastic bearings changed with the swing arm prob from the factory! put the cash into the stock market pay att.
then buy yourself a proper motorcycle !
why not just keep it ! ride the thing , or is that it ,not so much fun after a few run's comparied to the new stuff that doesen't wobbel on a dime??

lol, were you around in 1979? sorry you are so mad at a classic, do you hate the 1967 Camaro ss? it doesn't stop well, handle good like todays Camaro, maybe you should talk to Honda about building such a terrible motorcycle in 1979, I'm sure they will take whatever advice you give them LOL

I had a 1979 CBX brand new also .. At that time is was as good as it got , Brakes worked fine and to me ( for the times ) it handled great .. My bike was great at high speeds even at 100 MPH on the back wheel.. I have owned 5 or 6 of them , one turbo CBX .. One all motor with a big bore kit that ran 10.20s back in 82 at stock wheel base and no bars on the factory skinny rear rim and k81 speed master tire.. I have a real soft spot for the CBX .. Saw on last night bike night with 2k on the clock , unrestored and looked like it just rolled off the show room floor .. To bad it was red and not silver like mine .. If i had the money i'd buy wheelys CBX in a heart beat ..

Well i can give you the phone number of at least 10 of my friends that saw me do it over and over .. In fact i'll give you the cops name that clocked me at over 100 on the back wheel .. Not that hard to do if you know how .. Fact is i did 125 MPH on the back wheel with a friend on back of my GS1100 .. And no GS1100 stock for stock got close to my CBX unless i was riding the GS1100 .. Keep in mind i was a 116 pound kid with no fear at that time ..
Ask my wife about being on the back of my 85 Vmax in 1985 at over 100 MPH on the back wheel.. She still tells that story to her friends ..

Some riders can can do wheelies on a 40 HP dirt bike and shift gears while doing it. I have done this all my riding life. I assure you I can pop the front tire up up on that turd FJ1200 and shift to 2nd gear, lean back some and keep the tire up.And I am way past 50 now and 6'3" 224.... Lee(Smokin) is Not B.S. sorry but it seems you were not a wild man in your younger days. I was 29 in 1979 and back then the GS1100 was not released until 1980...square head light. I had one I sold because that FJ1200 spanked them, stcok to stock and with a Big Man on it. I was Manager at D&D Exhaust and our 6 into 1 with the carbs done etc 100 HP and do the clutch mod a CBX was a high 10 second stock engine bike with a Man on it. Smokin was like Pee Wee so light he was good for 1/2 second faster in the 1/4 mile. You may have owned one but but you did not take it to the limits.
