Another air shifter question...

Took the bike to the track tonight for the first time since installing the air shifter. Only got to make three passes before the rain started. All three passes it shifted great from first to second but missed second to third all three times. Had to hit the button again for it to go into gear. After the third pass I adjusted the kill time some but didn't have a chance to try it. My question is, does this sound like a kill time issue or maybe air pressure or something I'm doing wrong. I had the air pressure at about 100lbs. Thanks.

Turn the air up to 145 an add a bit of kill time .. 100 psi will not work ..

make sure it is not binding either. should have some slack at the mounting pivot. if you are tightening the nut down against the mounting boss on the end of the cylinder, you are doing it wrong. take it off and make sure it is not sticking either. last year i had the exact same symptoms, turned out to be a sticking piston. lever shifted up into second and stayed there. simple $25 fix to replace the cylinder

the solenoid is also rated at 120psi. it really doesn't take much force to complete a shift. if the kill time and delay (if applicable) are timed correctly, there is next to zero load during a shift, everything is just coasting, and it will go into the next gear like butter

another thing that helps is making sure it is a solid press, and not just flicking the button, that has messed me up a few times as well

Just went out and checked the cylinder and everything seems to be moving freely. The shift lever goes through its full range of motion with no sticking or hanging up. I'll have to remember that though about a solid press of the button. Thanks for the help.

Keep in mind that you could be hazing the tire as well. I had the same issues with mine when
the track prep was not good. A spinning tire won't allow the air shifter to work properly.

Later...

I'd say it's the lack of air pressure. After the 1-2 shift it's probably down to 90 PSI. I know mine has no chance of working unless it's above 140 to start.

Most likely is the pressure like ya'll are saying, only thing that has me a little confused about it is the fact that all three passes where it missed the 2-3 shift, it made the 3-4 shift just fine.

are you running a high pressure regulated co2 system, or just a single 1lb tank?

No co2. 1lb tank and on board compressor.
