Correct, balls of the feet on the pegs.
Also why a race-change is upside down - so you can hook up to the next gear while leant over by moving the shift lever down. No more trapped feet.

I was taught to corner on the balls of my feet ( why does that sound suggestive? )
It definitely helps body position change without fear of draggin toes or bumpin controls.
And inverted shifting would be sweet but take some getting used to after some green light stalls and a few over-rev'd "upshifts" hahaha

I have a long (26 min) unlisted vid on youtube where I'm getting my knee down. It's a helmet camera thing so there's nothing much to see, but if you know what you're listening for you can hear the slider touch down very distinctly in all the left-handers. Other traffic spoiled my run through the only (fast) right hander in my little test track, so I only managed to skim it for one moment there, in about 10 laps. If you want to watch it - PM me.

I had trouble getting down that low to start with. I was rusty and out of practice, on a brand new bike, coming back from an injury that happened on a bike, where I didn't walk for over a year. My leathers don't fit the way they should and constrict movement. The OEM Bridgestone BT014 front stood up hopelessly no matter what I did with it. The pilot power works fine and I keep it up over 40 psi and stand-up isn't an issue, especially when you hang off as when knee dragging. I know that's too hard for best temperature, but the damn bike will not turn with less than 40 psi in front. It's not an R6.

I just worked back into it with baby steps. I took a fishing knife to the liners of my leathers, from the knee down. That didn't fix it, but it helped. New leathers as soon as I can afford them. When I did start getting the knee down, I noticed that earlier footage of going around exactly the same corners shows the bike on pretty much exactly the same lean angle. Being off the side further, I might have been going 3 ~ 5 mph faster. It looks pretty much the same. In other words, I was really close from the beginning - it just didn't feel like it.
