Dragging knee on my 14

I know posts like this are not very common around here but still pretty cool how easy this is on the 14. My buddy shot me dragging my knees on the fat baby earlier today.

I can ride hard up Polarmar Mtn full suit 1098 duc riders have a hard time keeping up with me on that chopy road with my stable long wheel base 14. I never touch a knee down it would slow me down and why scrape your stuff up. Knee drag is over rated we look at the rear tires and see how many dingle berrys are sticking of the edge of the bikes brute power out of the apex . The 14 makes long berrys.

Knee draging is a must on a race track with smaller bikes . I wouldnt push the wide 14 to low you can scrape up the lower cowl and kick stand . Worst case a kick out low side. Pratice good slow apex line and power hard out thats were its at.

I'm assuming your 14 has stock foot pegs? I've got a set of vortex on mine, makes me wanna give it a try sometime!

Yep mine are the stock ones. Do the Vortex ones bend? Meaning if I scraped the peg would it bend back like the stock? The bike is stock for the most part. I have the Pirelli Angel STs they feel glued to the road once you warm them up with proper suspension tuneup of course.

Yes too low is not good. The way i sit on the video the tire still has 5mm left on the edge so it's a pretty safe lean for me. Gone lower and the bike can handle it but that's where it is questionable if i'm being safe.

You're right about opening the throttle on coming out of the turns but we got plenty of coppers up there. I used to push hard coming out but then I got a ticket, from which I got out of btw, and I stopped :-) So this is a way to still enjoy the bike and not get a fat speeding ticket :-)

Oh a cop did come out to see us yesterday also :-) said something about trespassing but we did not leave and he left us alone. I think he prolly thought we were stunt riding or something.

This bike turns more than enough for street riding. I LOVE IT!

After years of doing it though....I'm finally going to test the other side of sport riding...slammed and long. LOL

I had the rash on the bump on my lower fairing to prove that the 14 is more capable than it's lean angle lol. There's nothing shittier than hearing your fairing hit the road when you're leaned into a tight turn and know that there's nothing you can do about it lol.

Nope, they're stationary. No bending unless they break off.

Body position is important the more you lean into it .The less your bike has to lean to make the same turn at the same speed.

You know I've been wondering if stationary pegs would be a problem or not if they happen to scrape ...

head position on the track is low like your bitting your hand . I keep mine a llittle higher in the canyons to keep a higher visual to check on comming traffic . . A way to avoid tickets is go slow into the turn get a good line power & lean for a fun Apex then brake when you straighen up.

Yea what you are saying makes sense. I got to tell you though it does depend where the suckers are hiding. That's how I got my ticket :-) I was visiting my parents and the copper was hiding immediately after a 90 degree turn. I was just leaning so nicely rolled on and didn't even realize how fast I was going (apparently kinda fast) and then the next thing I saw coming out of the turn was blue lights lol all I am saying is: unfortunately it depends :-)

Me too. I have never touched a knee or a fairing but somehow, i scraped my exhaust last year. Dragging a flexible peg would be no big deal but a rearset might be bad news.

I really want a set of Vortexs on the 14. The way I see it, if they are adjusted tto the highest position, you will probably low side before you drag a peg. Never heard a story of anyone putting that to the test.

Nice work atidude. If you get rearsets, look into the adjustment range for whatever brand you get. So far Vortex is best. from my enquiries on ninjaforums. Sato is the only one that publishes the range of adjustment but if you are into cornering, I think Vortex is best for the 14.

I managed to avoid grounding anything on my 14, used mostly for sprinting and LSR.

Took my ZX11 (ZZR1100) to a track in the UK some years ago and spent a few happy laps grinding the blob off the footpegs, or so I thought. Back in the paddock I found the corner of the right hand silencer was ground away too.

I have my Vortex rearsets mounted in the highest position because I have drug my foot before (toe kicked out, lazy feet). I try to keep my feet tucked in close to the bike now, but I still find myself doing this. That's the main reason I got them.

tipy toe your feet on the pegs before the apex. Takes time to get use to it will help with body shift position also in a s turn.
