Wanting to transform my bike a bit (help)
I was hoping you guys could tell me a few things. I've always been into the all around street bike and turns, but I want to experience the other side of motorcycling...drag racing.
I want a 4-6" stretch. What arms would you guys suggest? ...and are they hard to install yourself? If it's easier to have someone else do it I will be using Brocks service since his shop is only 2 miles from my home, so he'd be able to help a lot, but I was wanting your guys advice before I make any deals.
I will lower the rear, but should I lower the front too?
This bike will be ridden on the STREET all the time too.
Thanks for any help you can offer guys.

I like my evil arm I just got, good service and nice looking arm for the money. I would go atleast 6 inches if it was me. Arm is not hard to install at all if you have the socket it takes. Yes I would slide the forks up about an inch IMO some guys go more. I also would get low profile drain plug and cut gaurd down a bit. I will say your fun in the corners are over with but you can't have both worlds IMO.

I'd go low profile plug and dremel off the long tab that surrounds the plug. I was planning to go to a different pan maybe too.

Yeah, I've had my fun with corners and want to experience the other world now. I changed I guess...lol. Thanks for the advice. I'll go 6" on the arm then.
Curious...does dropping the rear in the middle of dogbones create an issue with plug? Just saying if the rider did only that. Not saying I will...just curious.

I have a McIntosh Arm and my bike sits at 66" (almost 9" over). I have the front lowered about 2" and the rear is lowered 3".
I have no issues dragging lower fairings. I would say just be careful going over speed bumps, railroad tracks, etc.
At least get an aftermarket spring because the stock one is way too soft for the extended wheelbase.
I think it is a real good idea that you are going with an arm, not extensions. I am very happy with my Mac arm. Other arms to consider would be Adams and I am hearing good things about Evil swingarms (good price too).
Get everything you may want on your arm e.g. nitrous bottle bracket, air tank ready, powdercoat, etc. before you install it. That way, for example if you want to get nitrous later, you will already have a bottle bracket, not wishing that you got the bottle bracket to begin with. (Mac arms have a removable nitrous bottle bracket)
An arm with all the goodies will be easier to sell if need be in the future.
I ride mine on the street with no issues.
It is not too hard to swap arms. Anyone with moderate mechanical experience can do it. I can post pics if need be.

Nice share.
Is there a problem with just dropping the rear a bit?
What is the importance of underbracing? Do arms w/out it snap a lot?
Color me retarded, but what is "air tank" ready? I do want a NOS bracket, but what is "air tank" ready?
I have a lot to learn on this side of the bikes, so I have questions. Oh, and pics if you want to share would be great!

Well the more you lower the rear and front the quicker you will go, so it's up to you what your happy with. iMO back should be slammed all the way and at least an inch in front.

Is there any issue with rear tire hitting under tail?
Is there anything to cover the rear shock from the elements since I'll be removing the rear hugger?

Its easy if u got the right tools, dont be buying cheP parts either i got some spencer cycles extensions 7" roaring toys lower links, 2.5 inches in the back 2" in the front, just need to adjust the suspensiona bit. No isues ama get the cut pan just for safety but no issues so far. Its gonna be a totally diferent bike, but who likes twisties anyways.

spencer cycles extensions, OSR pan, spencer links, 16/46 gearing, lower the forks 1" in the trees, new chain, Tiger aluminum undertail, stap mounts and a strap for the front. and an ultra soft or equivalent tire. My suggestion would be that before you go dumping a bunch of cash on drag parts to buy lowering links, a strap kit, a lowered pan, and 17/40 gearing and go have some fun at stock wheelbase. If you can ride it swb, you can fly with it stretched. in my opinion the guys who just buy a bike and stretch it before learning to ride usually end up being shitty riders.

I can't speak for all arms but the Mac Prostreet Arm is good for 400 hp without underbracing. If you have over 400 hp, you will need underbracing.
Probably 95% of people out there that have an underbraced swingarm don't need it. Underbracing adds weight, too. So, unless you really need underbracing due to massive HP, don't waste the money. But, I did say earlier that you should get an arm that has everything that you may need in the future, so if you think that there is a remote possibility that you will be eclipsing 400 hp on your street bike, you may want to consider it..

Get an aluminum tiger tail, they are very nice and it allows for an addition 1" lowering depth underneath the tail. Plus, if your tire rubs it when you launch at the track, you will not have to worry about rubbing a hole through is like the factory undertail.

OK, first....stock shock/spring on the left, aftermarket spring/ re-valved shock on the right. Notice how much tighter the coil is on the shock. Stock shock is very soft and spongey.

I hope you have front and rear stands......Take your pegs off and put them back on upside down, now use car jackstands under your pegs to support the bike when you remove the stock swingarm.

Mac Arm set, new shock and spring mounted. Notice the undertail. It is a Tiger Tail..I had it powdercoated for aesthetics.

I have about 7 different sprockets for sell in the CLASSIFIEDS and a busa shock and spring. I would buy used spockets until I found the combination that works best for me. Just my 2 cents.
