Sprockets
I am looking at different sprocket combo's and know that I want to go steel for both front and rear. What bikes (other model kawasaki's) have the same rear sprocket bolt pattern?? I have been looking and found 530 sprockets for the zzr12/zx12 to be cheaper than a 530 sprocket of the same teeth/pitch for the zx14. Am I missing something??

So far I have found nothing else uses the same rear sprocket,
but the front fits a few ie: ZX12R

I dont believe any other Kawasaki rear sprockets fit the 14..........the ZX11 and ZX 12 front will fit though.........also, i dont believe anyone makes a steel for the rear.

Yes they do make steel rear sprockets. Sunstar makes a 40T, 41T, and 42T. Also, sidewinder makes custom sprockets in various metals (to include a titanium sprocket that is supposed to "last forever") With as much as I ride, a "forever" front and rear may be the way to go. Looks like $100 and $169 each....wonder how long the chain would go??
I have the stock gearing now and I have puirchased a sunstar 16 tooth that is brand new, but it isn't dampened. I am 6' 7" and 350lbs. I am in the process of extending the wheelbase and just want to get the most bang for the buck out of the acceleration. From what I have read, I think I can run it out to 65" or so and still have the weight to hold the tire down. I might be forced to go with a 17 front and a 44/45 rear. I don't get to stretch the legs on the top end so I might as well move it to the lower end. I ain't worried about the wheelies so much as I am tire slip.
Anybody got a source on ZZZ chains in 150-160 length for a decent price??

Didnt know that thanks for the info............larger front sprockets will definately last longer so i would consider the stock 17 if i were you, Lietome is a pretty big guy at 285 and he went with 17/45 and he absolutely loves it for street and strip, if your 350 and are extending the wheelbase i might go with a little more gearing like 17/46................FWIW, when i finnally ever do extend mine or the chain needs replacement i'm going with 17/45, i think its a great ratio.,,,,,,,,,,,,keep us posted on what you do fifth.

quick question..i had run -1,+2 combo on my previous bike but im not really sure if it would be appropiate for the 14..so what are u guys using? cuz im thinking a lighter combo will just never stick with this kind of power...

I'm 16,46 right now, but it's too much gear for the street IMO. I'd go 16,42 or 16,43.

Right but he's allready extended 7 inches and probably allready has the 17 tooth on there, so theres no need to buy a 16.........so why not just go 17/45............not only will the 17 last a little longer than a 16 but he will have the flexibility of running 16/45 or 18/45 if he wants to invest in a couple of relatively inexpensive front sprockets.

It makes a lot of sense zx14mike, i think i most llikely go with a supersprox 45 and a spare 16 on my keychain for special ocations... one of my buddies is running a 16/45, he said is torquey as hell but not too freeway friendly, but its true changing the front one its inexpensive and makes a hell o a diference for diferent setups..apreciated guys

16/43 on the street is Big fun. Kawasaki Zephyr steel 16 front(has the dampening material on both sides) and a Driven steel 43 rear.

I have about 7 different sprockets for sell in the CLASSIFIEDS and a busa shock and spring. I would buy used spockets until I found the combination that works best for me. Just my 2 cents.
