ECU and throttle bodies
Here is something I found out about ECUs and injectors, we have an 07 14 we install the 08 TBs injectors and ECU, there was no change at the track the map had to be slightly adjusted maybe a couple points. When we heard that the 06-07 injectors were bigger! We install them back on the bike but kept everything else the same using the 08 ECU, the results were we had to take 20 points out of the map in the minus category to achieve our 12.9 air fuel but the air fuel on the other end was all over the place. So we put the 07 ECU back on the bike and the map went back to normal using the 07 ECU and injectors. We use a WEGO III AFR to get the numbers. So if you have an 08 or newer and you put 06-07 injectors you will have to lower the duty cycle but I'm not sure you're actually getting more fuel on the other end? I'm sure this is a mismatch between ECU and injectors! the injectors are not firing the way they should I think we won't know for sure until somebody actually takes both injectors and flows them together. if somebody's has already done that I would like to know.

Thanks for info.
If I wanted to replace my 07 motor with and 08-11 motor, is retaining my 07 ecu and throttle bodies all I would have to do to make the 08-11 motor work?

yes just put your 07 throttle bodies on the motor and you will be good to go, or if you want to use the 08 TBs just put the 07 injectors in them.

We have 47mm 2008 TB's with '06 injectors in Racheal's 06 bike. Works great.
I believe the 06-07 injectors are a lot larger than the 08-11...like 80+ cc's??

the 08 injectors flow 330 cc vs the 06-07 flowing 440cc. I had them tested when I needed larger injectors for the 1530 e85 nitrous setup.
so the duty cycle for an 08 ecu would be almost 30% longer to compensate for the lower flowing 08 injectors to get the same amount of fuel compared to the 06 ecu
I am guessing that the 08 ecu and the 06 injectors would be pretty close for E85 .

When I had the 06-07 and injectors with the 08 ECU I had to lean the map out to minus 20 points that was okay on motor but when I put the nitrous map to it, it started jumping from 13.2 to 11.5 back and forth radically. Then I put the 07 ECU back in it and everything smoothed out especially the nitrous map. Maybe it's just my staff that has a problem? But that's how I fixed the problem and that's what worked for me.

thanks for the reply wrongway I keep hearing the stories back and forth about which ones have the bigger injectors but didn't know anybody that it actually tested both of them at the same time. There is a definite difference between the 06 and 08 and newer ECUs how they fire the injectors. I saw something on schnitz site about how it was important to match the wavelength of the ECU to the injectors but I don't know enough about this to speak with any authority I better just leave it where it's at thanks Ken

Ken, I had Marren test several sets of zx14 injectors.
The 06-07 injectors flow 430cc/min at 3 bar/42 psi. The 08-09 injectors flow 350cc/min at 3 bar/42 psi.
Rickey Gadson is running 06-07 injectors in his 09 real street bike with a big shot of nitrous and hasnt had ant issues. He is also running the 47mm throttle bodies.
The combo lowered his duty cycle quite a bit and he had no issues tuning it.

Thanks Jim for those numbers on the injectors, but on the ECU issue what's really strange on the O8 ECU I have to run -20 points on the motor map, but on nitrous map they use about the same map but on the 08 ECU the air fuels at wide open throttle or all over the place, With the 06 ECU they're pretty steady and the motor map goes back to normal. Maybe this is just my problem.
