Can anything be gained by opening/shortening the stock exhaust except noise?

bobbing the stock muffler was more about puttering in the garage than coming up with a performance upgrade. That particular muffler was dented slightly so instead of tossing as scrap, I got out the sawzall and experimented. The end result was a shitty sounding pipe at best. I personally use a Brock's system built and tested and mapped by pros for the record. Save your money and buy a real pipe is my final answer. D

Hey that's cool. I was just curious how it would turn out since I probably won't have money for an exhaust for another year yet. I figured it at least sounded good it may be worth it, but I bet it's pretty tinny, right?

You'd be suprised how often full exhaust systems come up for sale so be patient and dont molest your stock exhaust. You'll need it if you sell your bike someday. If you knew how much I paid for my perfect Brock's pipe, you'd be inspired (thanks Dogo!)
Some guys here have put aftermarket car muffler(s) on with some success. I don't have pics of that, maybe somebody will post a previous thread link. good luck Edge!

I tossed the idea of shortening the stock pipes but that never really turns out good. So Ill be waiting for a nice used brocks to turn up in the classifieds myself.

Good luck

It's unique, and looks well done. I'm sure it sounds better than oem, and a little more power too.

i will try to post something on youtube for you guys 2 hear the sound
it is really a unique sound, I didnt expect it would be making noise like this,

the inside has 3 separated chambers which in the OEM will end in 1 at the end of the exhaust, but offcourse as you cut the can as i did the 3 separated chambers are open.

also a small pointer for the people who would like to try this, the chambers inside are really hard to cut so when putting back the tip on you want to drill a hole for the popnails between the chambers. But i suppose you guys would notice that.

as a dealer for Brocks in Europe i really do represent their products but for the people with a flat pocket this is way the best solution.

i havent put the bike on the dyno to check but im pretty sure it also increases the power of the bike.

Here's what the cheap autozone tips look like. A guy that used to be on here named Qwick made these and sent them to me. Picked up a few horsepower, but they were really loud and I decided to run the stock mufflers so that I didn't get a ticket with them lol. Then I bought a smeg
