not sure why chrome is an issue here...non on mine.

Flat black just looks unfinished and bland. It's an accent, not a primary finish. Looks cheap IMO.

That's why there is more than one crayon in the box. Everyone can be happy.

Good One :-)

only opinion that matters is mine. I gotta walk up to it and hop on it.

But I agree with most here with the flat being overdone and just cheap looking

Did you ever get this thing back together? Curious to see how it turned out.

what I've found out is that the flat finish is a bitch to keep up on. It shows everything. Always looks dirty. I thought it was going to be super easy to keep up, but not even close. Kinda surprised me. I think the gloss bodywork is going to go great with the satin finish of the frame/wheels/swingarm.

Here's another pic of the side fairings with/without flash.

I hope nobody Beach slaps me buttt............that looks a lot like the 09 dark grey busa color. A bit darker than the busa, I would guess.

I'm picking up the body work this weekend in SC. Won't be back home with it for another week after that though. I'll post up pics of it when I have it back together.

And no...it's not even close to be any shade of gray like the busa grey....it's black with a lot of flake in it.

I've been entertaining this with my own 08 since I do custom paint work. Unfortunately, with the flat spark it tends to be thin since it has no clear over it and wears through in spots and the lazy MF'ers at KWI decided to use white ABS underneath, so I will have to shoot all new color and graphics anyways to clean up the scratches and wear spots. I have yet to look for the formula for the flat spark color since it's not gonna be necessary in the long run.

Your results aren't really all that surprising since the stock flatspark job is exactly what paint looks like while painting something between the color coat and clear coat. The clear will just make the flake stand out even more and deepen and enrich the colors. I don't think I would have chosen to leave the graphics under the clear myself, but thats JMO.

Speaking of paint I'm getting tired if looking at my 06 blue and entertaining the idea of a new scheme. I need to review some of the better 14 color/schemes. What we need is a sticky or something for all the better paint and or mod looks.

I've seen several of the bikes with the graphics pulled off....looks very plain to me. This will look just as good as any stocker 10 yrs from now without being faddish. Can't wait to get it all back together and go for a ride...it's been waaaaaaaay to long.

Mine isn't getting painted, but this is the first "winter" I have had in quite some time since I was stationed in San Diego, and my bike is pulled apart right now getting some upgrades, so I am feinding for a ride too.
