Wrecked my ZX14, won't start, need some input and or advice.

I just wrecked my ZX14, frame and engine seem to be intact, but cowl, fairings handle bars and almost everything up front is trashed. I tried to start it, and it turns over but won't start, temp and fuel indicators contiuously flash up and down. Need some help at least getting started in the right direction.

If bike staid on its side u might need to change out the plugs, fuel guage may be from a short from the wires that come out of black box on bottom of tank thats the fuel sensor that checks fuel level

It's the fuel gauge and the temp gauge, they just keep going up and down over and over real fast.

There is also a sensor by the headlight... it shuts the bike off if/when it tips over. If the front end is pretty bad, that may be your problem also. Good Luck to you!

I know the fuel and temp indicators flash when the ecu is disconnected. The starter still works too.

More then likely its the tip over switch...

The tip over sensor cuts fuel delivery right? Sounds like the best issue to begin with to me, especially if the bike still cranks but no start..........when you're crankin it over do you smell fuel at all? If so, I'd assume it would have to be a spark problem then -- but the dash flashing tells me it's an electrical issue

The sensor was disconnected, I connected all the sensors that were disconnected during the accident, it started right up. We have life, so the surgery begins...........lol.

Good luck man. It's a process for sure. I recently wrecked my bike and didn't have full coverage so all the costs of fixing it came out of my pocket. Luckily my wife was on board with the rebuild project. That helps alot especially when you start having to lay down a few benjamins. She never said one word about what it cost. Well long story short the bike is back on the road and even better than new. Got the color plastics I always wanted, new wheels, tires, etc.. Might sound weird but I feel more of a bond with this bike than I previously had. Good thing also is I have lots of spare parts for my bike now.

Does that make you a bikeaphile? Might check the laws on unnatural acts with a bike, they could be severe, lifetime registration with law enforcement, limits on distance away, where you can live, endless harassment etc.
