Competition CNC Head swap nets 254hp

Well guys, Jim from COMPETITION CNC finally proved to me what everyone has been wondering in the ZX14 world?
That he and his company is FOR REAL!! Jims been talking to me all year about his ability to make HP with his Cylinder heads on the 14's.

He invited me to make a change to my RST bike which already went 7.84 187 on Nitrous and 8.30's on motor. Of course I was nervous about changing it, but as he said I can always just go back to my winning combo.
He recently completed a CNC ported head for me to try with
BIG VALVES,Bronze seats,APE Bronze valve guides,APE springs and Titanium retainers, bored tappets,28mm buckets, and BIG 445 lift WEB CAMS.

So that we were comparing apples to apples, I Dyno'd on my dyno, and it made 230hp, then I proceeded to pull it apart for the swap!

So the same day we pulled the head off and did the swap. The biggest question was where to set the cams? Not really wanting to have to deal with the added hp at lower RPM's or while leaving the line, we retarded the intake cams to 110 and set the exhaust at 108.75.

After the head and cam swap which was going from 385 lift street cams to a radical 445 lift cam with more duration and lift, I hurried to get the bike back on my Dyno so the weather conditions would be as close to the same as possible. Jim even matched the oversized port with the intake boots, and I matched the other side with the 47mm throttle bodys.

Good Info and great pics! Thanks for the time and info!! Let us know what it feels like when you get some seat time. Seems like a great set up so far....interested to know how that motor feels when you get it all together and moving down the track. What clutch are you going to use?

Same stock clutch with no lockup. It holds the 360hp I have been putting to it all year on spray.
