hand ported ZX-14 head
I ported one of my ZX-14 heads and stuck it on the bike. I kept the stock valves and stock cams. The flow bench was showing an 8-9% increase so I was hoping for a 15-17 hp gain . here is the dyno run form this morningcompared to the stock head/cam runs.... HP numbers are close to the expected gains from flow.

maybe someday I will breakdown and buy race cams , but I just hate blowing that kinda money.
All in all , I am very happy with my low budget project . I have kept the motor build under $4k and got my 200 mph club runs at both maxton and loring.

Roy, I can't seem to see the pic for some reason (tried a couple different pc's/browsers). Can anyone else?
Were the runs done on the same dyno?

It's a tease just like the 14 motor build thread. He's gonna tell you how great it is then once the results come in he's gonna say the customer wants to keep it secret.

I just got off the Phone with Roy ( wrongway ) He was not at home and tried to post the dyno charts and they didn't post .. Roy said he would repost them when he gets home .. This is Roys bike and Roy did the work , it's not some customers bike ...
What he told me on the phone was the bike picked up HP and TQ all the way from bottom to top with no HP loss anywhere from his home port job .. He picked up 14 HP at peak and that was without adding compression or aftermarket cams .. His motor was making 197 before the head , so it sould be right at 211 HP now ..
Keep in mind Roys map is real fat ( in the 11s AFR ) so that 211 HP numbers was without Ram Air and a real fat LSR map ..

I was just messing around. I knew it was his bike. I wouldn't be surprised if a few people do send him their heads though.

both on the same dyno... everything is the same with the exception of the head swap. The map I was using was the map I made at the track and is a bit rich without the ram air.

Roy
But everything is not the same. I am not arguing the value or effectiveness of your port job.. but according to the dyno chart the pulls happened at different ambient temps and more importantly.. very different humidity levels. The highest pull happens on the cooler and dryer conditions. Looking at your numbers I can see it is still impressive.. but all things were not equal is all I am saying.

The dyno numbers are corrected for temp and humidity.

A little tunning on that A/F and i would bet we would see more than 14 HP .. That thing is pig rich even for ram air ..

That would depend on what cams, and that depends on the bucket size and the throttle body size.
Nice job Roy. Nice pickup!!
I would guess you could pick up 8-10 more hp with cams.
But if you want the big power you need big cams and big buckets.
Here's our head and cams VS a Carpenter head and cams on Rickeys bike.... You can read the whole thread on the drag-bike side. I just posted some preliminary stuff about it tonight. I'll post more details in a day or two.

I don't think I am that interested in spending alot of money on the bike. I know that I would not be able to compete with the smaller jockeys ,and watching some one else ride my bike just doesn't do much for me.
I was able to reach most of my goals and find out how much easy/cheap HP there is in a ZX14. I hope that this project gives the people here some idea what can be done in their own back yard so they know what the real gains are from a pro built motor. I think I will just put the body work on it and have some fun. I should have a pretty good street/strip bike to play with. I did learn alot about fuel injection , E85 and nitrous that I can use on my next project.
I think I will go back to what I know best , and that is get the camaro ready for Maxton's fastest street car shootout in April:-)

Roy very nice work, continue with that low budget High HP result format. Really the results of your dyno run are impressive, particularly since the correction factor used is "SAE" which is not as generous as "STD" correction factor. IN other words if your dyno run was posted in "STD" CF it would 3~5% higher. Once again nice work.
