3-4" Stretch
Hey Guys,
I'm thinking about doing a 3-4" stretch on the 14 but since my wife rides with me on occasion how badly with the handling be affected? My bike is already lowered 1.25" in front and back and I like the way it handles especially at high speed.
Thanks,
Red1

lowering it will affect the handling way more than a 3-4" stretch. Hell, I can still get a knee down on a stretched (not lowered) bike no problem. Lowered though, and you start to run into ground clearance issues at lean.

Thanks for the feedback QP,
I'm okay with the ground clearance just thinking about the suspension and two up riding with the stretch.

Bike will actually ride smoother with a stretch (longer wheelbase does this). BUT, with it longer, you are asking a lot more from an already overworked rear shock due to extra leverage from added length. Just keep that in mind. .02

Bike will simply turn slower. Be careful not to run wide exiting turns while you are getting used to it.
And, as stated, you will really be working the rear shock.

How are you stretching it just 3-4"? I'm curious, because with extensions the least seems to be 6". Anyway, I'm at 63 1/2", and the 14 is the two-up bike. I did have a stronger spring put on, and it handles fairly well. Watch your entry speeds and power out. I actually had the opportunity to take my wife on some parade laps at a local road track. She loved it at first, but the instructors kicked it up a little and once I started really needing to hang off, it scared the pee out of her. LOL. No chicken strips on those Power Ones! It handles much better than I thought it would, that's for sure.

I got my busa stretched 10" and still drag a knee. That's while weighing 340lbs.

Depending on the extentions, you can stretch the bike in the 4" range.

the stock spring is already too soft, with the added levarge and a passenger it will really suck... IMO
I went with resprung revalved shock when I went 4".

Here is what it will look like @ 60" I love the handling,
great for weekend drags and still goes well in the twisties.
I had the arm stretched 3" and then anodized black.

Here is the arm before anodizing:

Halvefast,
How's the suspension with two up riding and what gearing are you running?
Thanks,
Red

I had 8 turns added to the rear shock, handled well,
wife doesn't like riding on this since we added the Goldwing.
I run 17-42 gearing best for me all around, even for 1/4mi
