YES, I worked there when Mr. McClure owned it.1966/67 painted the#s on the windshield After that I Bracket Raced a 1971 Honda 750 back then.....had a B Stock 1966 GTO....... had a 421 Catalina Pontiac engine with 3x2's . looked just like a 389. Lot of the racers had a 409 in in a 58 or 59 Impala that had a 348, same thing, engines were hard to tell apart. I met Jon Minnino, Davis Rash and yes Bill
Hielsher out there too. After Bill purchased the track there were new expensive homes built near the track, and the track never did get any improvements and then Billy Myer Dad built the Texas Motor Speedway so all the NHRA events went away.......I lived about 5 miles from the track. Sure was cool on Wed night to cruise to the track and have fun on Grudge Nights
Jon still races the "salt" we all worked at D&D Exhaust back in the day. Jon had a Pro Comp Drag Bike that ran the 7's.he use to tell me he kew if he had a good run...when he crossed the line the front tire was spinning backwards before he pulled the clutch in.3 speed auto and 3 stage NOS... car tire frame. That Triumph was a triple with a chrome plated frame and wheelie bar and a custom white pearl paint. Jack Wilson, Pete Diallio, Johnny Allen were all out at the valley back then. Good Times for sure.
Can you email me this article?? labartay@verizon.net I want to take it to Jon shops and bench race with him LMAO. Damn where has time gone........... just hit 60 today sigh.still racing the younguns' Oildfieldtrash (other Shane) and others go do some roll on's with the Old man LMAO still ride a wheelie.
Louis (LA) Bartay.

OH yes i raced my 68 GTX as well as my Boss 429 and 63 SS 409 car at the Valley .. I have some pictures but i will have to get them scanned to be able to post them ..Green Valley was a great track , to bad it went bye bye ..
I don't have any pictures of my Boss 429 car but it was very easy to spot .. It was green and It had a straight axle out of a 55 chevy truck .. The straight axle was done by Paul Painton race cars in Dallas ..

Paul tubed at 55 I had and then a Vega we got that had a 283power glide with a 10 bolt Gota Dana 60 that was shortened an Paul did a Frame link and brace and set up
the 12 bolt so 10 inch slicks would clear. Tom at Clifornia Custom inHaltom City built a 350
LT1 370 HP that Calverts in Denton balanced. It ran the high 11's when we could get it to hook up.

It wasn't Super 8. It was the new tech VHS!
I converted them yesterday.
Everything is from 1980 - 1982. I will take a look to see if I have any more tapes.
I have to find a way to convert .VOB files to .WMV so I can break it down into small clips.

Maybe the one I WON!
ET brackets, Sept. 24th and 25th, 1983.
In the finals, I raced "a girl." Being the male chauvinists that we were, I was under a lot of pressure to win, or I would have never heard the end of it. She was obviously very good as she made it to the finals.
Anyone know her name?
Anyway, I usually was running people down, but she dialed a 9.10 to my 9.55. It was all over at the tree, as I slowed to a 9.65 to take the win.
Loughlin gave me a sob story about attendance not being what it should have been (A LIE) and a check for $100.

If it was earlier than 1980, I got nothin' for ya.
Otherwise, I'll look in the next few days as I edit what I have now on DVD.

I remember them. I worked at Carltons BSA and Yamaha Shop on East Lancaster, Terrys Honda was on one side and Glenn's Triumph was on the other side. I was 14 and a had a bored out S-90 with Meg and a bigger carb that Robert Balkcum built for me. On Sat. at lunch I would race stock twin Jet 100 Yamaha 2smokers. I could just beat them and my S-90 was not stock and Dad had the fenders and battery cover chromed. I would tell the kids on the twin 100 that I was stock with a pipe. Carlton got mad at me would not let me park my
Black Honda in front of his shop. It looked new and with the chrome Curtis Terry let me park it "Inside" his show room.......... I got " Let Go" after that ......... LMAO now. My step brother Tommy was a member of the Fort Worth Cycle Club back then and he got me the job as he knew Carlton, he had a 650 BSA.he was mad at me too.
