won the ghetto night night dyno shoot-out

my wife and I were out on a ride when we came across skank night bikini bike wash and bike show.I heard bikes on the dyno and decided to put my 07 with over 10 thousand miles up to see what shes got, well I know what she got...flies out Full titanium Ti - Force ,PC 3 K&N filter and a map that i got from Mr Wheelie on this forum (thanks Mr.Wheelie) well back to the story, so all these bikes run nothing major like 118 hp (600's) I get up there and too my surprise I put down 173.5 HP and take 1st place. well right at the end of night all the shit talk starts and here come all the big shots ( or so they think ) stretched out GSXR 1000's and big mouth dudes on 10inch over air shifted open header exhaust.(you know what i'm talkn bout) they start saying their bike has 195 hp race cams yada yada yada. come to find out after all the smack talk the touring 14 w heli risers tank bag and all , won the shoot out . the busa with the so called cammed motor put down 166hp . no one came close and my wife and I were pleased to win a brand new $200 Shift jacket.

What a riot!!!!!!!!!!

I love it when a guy just quietly steps up and gets it done. If it doesn't happen, there are no words to eat.

Congrats,

Tom

Busa's #s were low..the shop I use to Manage had a Super Flow Eddy Current Dyno.new in 2000. A stock GenI Busa made 156 SAE RWHP stock. Several did this in the Texas heat here in Fort Worth. next time I am near the shop I will ask the owner what a stock 14 does.

Glad you and the wife drove away Happy... :-)

What I learned while operating a Dyno. 1, every body thinks there bike is making way more power than it really is. 2, tire pressure makes a big difference on the readout. you can over inflate the rear tire so it's hard as a rock and it will give you a bigger H.P. reading. Let a bunch of air out and it will give you a low reading. 3 people get pissed off and say your dyno is screwed up and take it personal when they don't see the inflated number they think it should read. That's good numbers on your 14. I remember doing a guys 883 Sportster that he had home jetted and had some drag pipes on. He swore it was "pulling your arms out of the sockets" I asked him what he thought it had and he said around 70 RWHP. It had 29 RWHP on the dyno People kill me.

29 is that a misprint?????? A carb Evo Softtail made 65 RWHP in 2000 stock.

We always looked at base stock #s and then looked at % of Gain the new exhaust and map or jet kit made. Then we looked at the #s a Super Flow prints out you never see.it shows how much Faster did the mods work. I think it printed them out every 4 tenths of a second or stored them then we printed them out and compaired.......Dyno Queen #s vs what Really worked when doing R&D on a exhaust system for a new bike. I was Sales Manager and Tech Support and wife built and maintained the web site for D&D Exhaust back in the 90's when they made a 4/2/1 that really worked for a Sport Bike.

29 is right. The EVO was 80 C.I. a much bigger motor. Most of those same guys could care less about torque either, only peak power so they can brag about it. Back in the day to get inflated numbers on the early GSXR1000's we would take a leaf blower and charge the airbox while the other intake was tapped up. then fog a little nitrous through the leaf blower and show those charts and let the rumors fly. They would think we had the baddest stock motored bikes in town.
