The stock Bridgestones are not confidence inspiring to say the least. I went with Contintial sport attack continous compounds and love them. I wish Louis lived closer so I could try out that 55 series rear tire in the corners.I hate to buy things and not be happy with them, hence the desire to try before I buy.

Hey Peyton
If you like to Drag Race pass on the 55. But it WILL make a 14 turn Much quicker. Next time Shane (oilfieldstrash) and I go for a ride I will let him ride my 14 so he can see how it handles. I am really happy with the Michelin Pilot Power 2CT in the 190/55/17. I don't think it will last as long as the Pilot Road2's (harder compound) . How many miles will the Attack go (no burn outs)??

Louis I have about 2000 miles on them now and the rear tire is just starting to show. Some wear in the center with no burnouts. I have gotten to the point that burnouts are saved for just before tire change. I have become a twistys rider these days, helps me to de-compress from lifes pressures. I will post a pic of the tire tonight, actually Nea will post it.

I agree with the 55 tire enabling quicker lean angle, but you do forfeit just a smidge footprint width.........I've just taken 55's off of mine and trying the 50 for a change -- bought mine with 55's already fitted so I'm interested in seeing the difference..........I'm a big guy and tend to throw it in the corner no matter whats under her, so we'll see........weather should break later this week so I can get the film off of 'em.

My biggest problem is corner entry. Even on roads I know, I tend to tense up sometimes on tight turns. I've loosen up some the more I ride, but off seasons tend to put me back there once I start back riding during the season.

I used to do this very same thing 10 years ago on my YZF.........but after taking classes/courses at my local roadcourse, my cornering improved tenfold.........was taught to be looking deeper into the turns and focusing on feeling where to apply brake, and where to apply power to the exit, knowing how my body position plays its part in cornering, throttle control throttle control throttle control!! Street riding and track riding are 2 way different animals since the tracks are prepped and clean, so you just watch your line and focus on feel, position, and delivery.......but streets are NOT a good surface to learn these techniques........basically, go out and earn your "certs" to race amatuer so you can grab up trackdays, whether you end up racing or not..........the experience is well worth it, and it really improves your confidence and knowledge in handling the bike in most any turn.

I have found the michelin CT2 at 32-35 psi to be much superior.
Could feel the tire scrub and bite into the road.

manual recommended 41 psi? really?
thats gotta be for the 250+ pound guys.
I felt almost ZERO front tire feedback at those 40 psi pressures

I like the 30-32 in rear and 32-35 in front with michelins, traction and feedback improved exponentially.
Tire wear especially in rear was much much better due to less scrub and spin and wider footprint when upright.

I run 41psi on mine, the steering feels funny when its at anything below 38psi. I do weigh 230lbs though. When i had them at 36 at the begining i had a hard time turning side to side on the zx, i raised it to 41 and now i can flick it back and forth like a normal super sport...well.. almost like a supersport.

And you guys that are planning to use a 190 55 tire you will need to reset the suspension geometry as the taller rear might upset front end stability. My 750 in particular was pretty temperamental when i added the 190 55 tire, i had to re-set the suspension to help with high speed stability.

during the last session on road atlanta international last weekend, something felt weird about my front suspension too....maybe it was because my "street tires and stock street suspension" had all it could take for the day?? couldn't have been anything else

Makes sense.
those pressures I stated were at about 35C or 95F . I was willing to suck up some rolling resistance for more grip and traction feedback. I weigh 200 lbs. The pavent here can be very worn with mostly agregat exposed at the surface
For flickability countersteering the big zx works wonders. I could get the back tire to come off the ground it would transition so fast with a quick countersteer at 40 mph slalom.

I guess I got lucky. I am 235 also and have a 1000 miles in Mountains on my new Michelin Pilot Power 2CT in the 190/55/17. No problems with the bike in the turns or blasting WOT in 6th. But I have my supension
cranked down stiff. 40PSI cold with the 55 rides stiffer than a Pilot Road 50 2's on the open Hiway.

Last 750 I had was my old 1974 Honda 750 LOL and to think I use to think it was Fast.... LMAO now.
I also weighed 175 back then :-) I blame on 30 years of good food and I quit smoking. :-)

old Pic's like me. :-)

the bridgestones are crap. the stock bikes come with bt-014s. the front would wash out if pushed hard into a turn with them. i love the michelins. the pilot powers are good and the pilot power 2cts are better. day and night difference in confidence and feel. i am on my third go round with the pp2cts and would not ride with anything else. i weigh 260 and run 40 to 42 psi and stock sizes, and yes my suspension is set up properly.

I have no trouble cornering but my trouble is braking too early. I enter to turn too slow.

I thought this thread started out about tires, so I'll input there...

I don't do much track time, but do a lot of Sport Touring. I like to push it in the back roads whenever possible. There are some nice roads out here to hang at 130+. I really can't say how hard I push it, because I've ridden alone for these rides for so long that I don't know what everyone else is doing. I'm on the road all day for work, so these are day to day experiences, not a casual Saturday afternoon ride.

Since I put so many miles on, (I'm at almost 25,000 on my '08 SE), I use Michelin's Power Road tires. They age gracefully and I get a ton of miles out of them. I've never felt the front end slide except those "tar snakes". I hate those damn things!

We're taking two road trips in the upcoming weeks. This month, we'll do the North Cascades again, but with the wife on her 650r. Next month, the big ride. We'll meet in Seattle, go to Aberdeen, and then straight down the coast to San Diego. We'll be riding only 300-400 miles a day, but it'll be fun.

I've grown very confident of these Pilot Road tires. I'm on my 3rd set now. They're great in the rain and handle most road dirt well. If you're not full on racing, I recommend them.

I weigh 225 in gear and agree the stock tires are poor in the twisty's. If they aren't fully warmed up the front will definitely push at aggressive lean angles. I recently installed the HPX tires and thus far they seem to work well with my weight. I live in Fl so tire warm up happens fairly quickly, not so in other regions.
