2008 flies out
Hey everyone,
I just entered the wonderful world of the ZX-14 a few months ago and love it! What an absolutely amazing bike to ride.
I managed to purchase a brand new 2008 SE a few months ago at a smoking price. Since then, I've added the Brocks CT single exhaust, PC5 and autotune.
This thread is for the people out there who were like me and wondering if the newer 14s would still benefit from fly removal. I toyed with the idea of removing them for a while but a lot of people mentioned that there wasn't that much of a benefit from it as the 08 and up were already much more open.
Trust me, get rid of the flies!! Once I got mine out, I noticed a lot more kick on the lower end. The bike is now powerful everywhere and is still very responsive and easy to control. If in doubt, get rid of the flies!

Hey Mike, I'll take your word for it since you must have had the opportunity to ride with/out back to back. I had to wait a couple months to test my 08 flies out and by that time, i didn't feel a big change. Maybe you got a good map...maybe the auto tune did it for you?? Congrats. I agree, might as well take them out if you have no concern about warrenty. Going flyless doesn't detract from throttle control or anything else.

I did the pipe, PC III, air filter, and pulled the flies all at once it made a HUGE difference.....I'm running one of the maps Brock sent me when I bought the pipe..

I guess I was power hungry and never really experienced the bike stock. I threw in the Brocks CT pipe, PC5 and autotune almost immediately after getting the bike. I then waffled for a while about the flies and finally did it a week ago. I've got a Brocks map installed and it seems to be bang on. Definite improvement on the low end! Now I wanna get to the track!!

I'm flyless on my 08 se and love it. My pal has a 09 se that still has the flies in. I am going to swap bikes soon to let him see what he is missing.

You can't just pull the flies, you need a add-on fuel management system also, right?
