Hi guys. I am picking up my '08 Midnight Blue ZX14 this week and couldn't be happier. I've been riding for 38 years and never have gone fast enough. I think I've found the answer this time! I have a couple of questions for you guys: While I plan on riding the bike stock for awhile, what risers/modifications are available? I have seen the Heli bars but just wonder if they are really effective and what else is available? Also, I am sort of looking at this as an intercontinental ballistic sport tourer and would like to know what type of shield and seat comboinations are out there. I know I should search, but the forum is a little busy and will take getting used to. Thanks!!

LSL triple tree kit, Super Bike bars, SS braided lines. Old Man's bars :-) sure makes
out of state rides better.
Welcome, most here Drag Race, lot of info on the 14 I have learned here.

Welcome, I've got heli bar risers, they work well even though they only raise the bars 3/4 inch & no extended cables/hoses needed. My seat is a custom build on a stock pan, but Sargent makes a killer seat. Also Buell XB pegs drop down about an inch over stock, got em just haven't installed them yet.

I like the seat................... the LSL bar kit uses stock throttle and clutch cables/lines. But does have longer SS front brake lines.

Welcome aboard! risers are a good idea if you're taller, and also a set of Buell pegs for an XB12S........they've got a 1" drop and don't cost nearly as much as adjustables. A double bubble windscreen is a good idea as well if you're taller or bigger than average

Welcome Brooksie. Take a look at newimagecustomseats.com to help smooth out that awful stock seat.

Thanks, it's really comfy, seems to have a memory foam in it, when you compress it it stays compressed for a bit before it rebounds back. The back is one of those anti-slip things from ebay to help keep passengers in place, it was for my other bike but didn't fit it but works good on this one. The seat was on it when I got it, I'll look under it & post who did the work if the business card isn't too bad to read.

Thanks guys! I paid the money and gave them the title to the Ducati today and will be picking the bike up Monday. I am completely stoked. I had a good chance to see the bike without any others around it and I am very impressed. I think I may have purchased the last bike I'll need. I'm sure I won't ever run out of power. What shield do you think works best for touring without screwing the looks up? The bike just feel right out of the box. I appreciate the input on the bike and can't wait to post up the pics next week.

Welcome Brooksie! You’ll love the bike.
Don’t ride anyone’s modified 14. It’s very expensive. And now the modifications begin.
I love the LSL triple tree kit. Unless you are trying to go fast clip ons blow.

Update on the seat it was made by Richard Maund, owner & chief of Rich's Cycle Upholstery, 757-513-5198,, Chesapeake, Va., maunds@verizon.net. He used to have a website but it got shut down. He sent his photobucket page to look at. Great guy give him a call if interested but be prepared to b.s. for awhile.

Thanks for the pics and info guys. I picked the bike up on Monday and finally had a chance to put 200 miles on it yesterday. This is probably the best bike I've owned in 35+ years of riding and almost 30 motorcycles. I think I've finally found the ultimate road bike. Endless, seemless power, great stability/aerodynamics and fairly comfortable in stock form. I think I will try the usuall bevy of aftermarket items to make the bike a little cosier. I have the same soft luggage you're showing here and am very happy to see it works well on this bike. I've got the shield, peg lowering brackets, TecSpec tank protectors coming but I'm not convinced the bars need replacing/relocating as much as the seat needs help. I will be riding solo most ofthe time and this bike is so well thought out. The attention to detail is way beyond the European bikes I've been riding the last 8 years and the bike is just a plain beast. Best move I've made since my first divorice. I'll be posting up pics as soon as I stop riding. Thanks crew!!
