••••)> So kawasaki say's my 06 needs to be taken to the shop asap for some recall sh!

so after i hit around 2,500 miles i noticed a small vibration and slight rattle noise i mean very small at 1st i thought it was my keys rattling but its something else on or in the bike... i tell some people i met who own 14's and they tell me about the recall shit and how serious it is - one told me he need his whole frame replaced and it vibrated until he did it, kinda like i have been feeling... so i call kawasaki and they tell me to stay off the bike and that my bike has been recalled for 2 things something electrical and the frame... the owner before me never rode the bike he only kept it for show and bragging rights, it had 900miles when i bought it... they said they sent him many letters saying it need to be done but he did nothing about it...

so has anyone gone thought this, i'm not a big fan of anyone else working on my bike i did everything i have done so far to it myself, this is what i have done since i brought the home 4 mouths ago

3 oil/filter changes
drained the gas tank
removed flies
zx10 front fender
pcIII
undertail
bar risers
+2 rear sprocket miser
trottlemiser
black puig DB windscreen
red wheel tape

i really don't know what to expect i just don't want to get my bike back with rounded bolts, missing screws. dirty finger prints and shit falling apart after i ride for a month or two cause they didn't put it back together good enought...

the bike is now at 3700 miles

Don't sweat it. Have them check it out. A small amount of frames had issues.

The recall was for frame cracking at the swingarm mount area because some ahole at Kawi couldn't read a torque wrench. Very few frames were affected, however if it is cracked you most definately want it replaced & yes that means some ham fisted underpaid slob gets to totally dismantle your pride & joy into a basket case. This will probably be done while you are enjoying summer without it due to parts back order or some other b.s. Welcome to the world of recalls. I've got a nice '06 gixxer 1000 you can borrow, oh wait, I think it's at Suzi for a frame recall too waiting for parts. Damn!

What torque wrench? They use a preset impact for everything at the Kawi factory. What frame recall was there on a 06 1000?

Frame cracking at steering head for '05 & 06 1000 & 750. They bolt & epoxy on a brace under the frame. So how did they screw up torque on swingarm if it's preset? Both of mine were off but no damage luckily.

It's mainly from wheelies & stoppies from what I've read. But still no way. They say the brace is hidden when it's all together but I haven't seen one yet. As far as epoxy, I don't think I've ever seen one that doesn't break down over time.

Considering AMA and MotoGp riders wheelie and brake so hard its practically a stoppie all the time, i would think these frames should be designed to withstand any kind of motorcycling abuse.

Agreed, that's what puts them off my list. It's too bad Suzi cheaped out instead of replacing frames. They've managed to keep it pretty quiet but if asked the dealer will admit to it. I caught it first in a motorcycle mag, Probably either Sport Rider or RoadRacing World, don't remember which one though.

inspect your frame in the affected area, get ahold of smokinzx14 to check your frame torque. he knows what he is doing and won't break it checking it. if there is an issue(doubt there is) then take it to kaw. i would not trust them to make the call. i am sure its fine. the rattling is the tipover switch under your windshield, take off your windshield and wrap some foam around it with electrical tape and voila no more rattle.

Wow a four year old bike with only 3700 miles. Thats 925 a year average, must have been a 1/4 mile at a time dragbike. Yes everyone should have had the frame inspection done long ago.

get this some rich lawyer from around my way had a show room in his house with a shelby 427, 67 vett, a bunch of choppers, and tons of other bikes and cars.. he only bought it cause it was claimed to be the fastest bike made when he got it.. he was at the store buying jet skis for his own lake he has when the store guy said its the fastest bike in the shop and ... so he bought it rode it for 900 miles in the 4 years he owned it and sold it to me for little over 6k with 2 bros slip ons, and a trickle charger he had installed to keep the bike alive cause he knew he wasn't going to running it... so really he only put 900 miles on it in 4 years i bought it 4 months ago and put the rest on it.. so no it was never a drag bike it came with the stock tires and they looked new not to mention i know the guy and he should have told me about the recall bull shit, though
