Airbox full of oil , hydraulic lock

06 model stock motor with cut oilpan, 4 qts of oil , block-off plates. The airbox was filled with oil and wouldnt turn over due to oil in the cylinders. The motor was pulled apart thinking it was valves, seals rings or something to that effect, but everything looks great. We have the same set-up (cut pan, blockoffs and 4 qts of oil) on 3 more bikes with no problems. First logic makes you think oil level is too high creating pressure and filling the airbox but the others work fine . Anyone have any suggestions ????

Did you shorten the hose that goes into the sump when you installed the cut pan? Did the hose perhaps get kinked during install?

Yes it is shortened . It is hard plastic so unlikely its kinked. I have had the same guy do 4 pans for me and they all look and measure the same. Thanks for help ! Please keep it coming.

the only way for oil to get into the airbox is from crankcase pressure pushing it out the hose mounted on the plate above the starter. I guess if the oil was foaming up it could have gotten that high.

When I melted my motor down i had some oil up there , but not like you talked about... and I was on a mile pass at maxton.

I would disconnect that vent and see how much pressure /blowby you see coming out of the crankcase.

Im getting oil in my airbox as well not enough to fill it but its running out the grommets in the air box that the plastics bolt to. I have a clems pan, tube completely removed, and i have the brocks plug installed on the air box. Just a side note my buddy put his plug on his airbox from his brocks pipe and the airbox immediately filled with oil. removed the plug no more oil?? explain that!

Not making any sense to me either. We are going to put it back together and see what we can find externally. Thanks for the suggestions!

maybe the crankcase vent should get routed to a puke tank instead of the air box ?

make sure to remove the drain tube -- they need to be removed not cut short as they may still kink if they are in there -- pull it out

On our race car applications using the zx14 motor we chuck the breather pipe into a catch tank and not into the airbox.

Last year when we went from short hill climbs to 15 minute circuit racing we began experiencing huge breathing problems with the zx 14 motors. It actually caused a fire on 1 occasion.

We ended up solving the problem by opening up 2 additional breathers in the top cover of the engine and removing the rubber pipe in the sump that ppl have already mentioned above.

Hope this helps.
