How to replace timing rotor?
Sup,
Not sure I'm using the right name, that seems to be what service manual calls it. Problem is, it says "See Timing Rotor Removal" and searching PDF document for "timing rotor" gives me no results.
I'm mechanically-impaired, but can get around. I understand this is a camshaft chain behind this "timing rotor", which drives the crank shaft (correct if wrong). Cannot take off the big black M8 bolt on the picture easily b/c crankshaft turns when I try to turn the bolt. I can use impact gun, but don't know the direction crankshaft is turning so not sure about threading on that bolt.
Please let me know if this isn't clear enough. I'm just trying to replace the "timing rotor" b/c the one on pic has broken teeth (was in accident last year).
This is an 08.
Thanks lots!

The rotor is "keyed" it will only go on one way.
Remove the bolt (put the bike in gear if the bolt is stuborn) - replace the rotor, use locktite blue when you reinstall.

Thanks bob.
Does the bolt turn counter-clockwise?
Even if I put the bike in gear, turning the bolt turns the crankshaft. I will try again tonight, though, maybe it didn't go into gear. Bike has limited mobility due to crash so I didn't rock it forward after switching gear, maybe it didn't set in.

right. if you got access to a 3/8 impact just give it one good hit and it will come right off without it moving the crank at all. the bolt loosens counter clockwise.
torque is about 25 ft lbs going back on

That's not funny, that sucks. I wouldn't wish messing up your scoot on any one because most here are anal about these bikes because they are not everywhere like boozas. Sorry Bently, meant no harm.

Saw a ZX14 omw to work today... don't know what pipe he had on, but it was best sound I've heard on bike so far - deep and loud but not too deep nor too loud, just powerful. He just whizzed past me, which made me SO miss my 14.
Soon, very soon now... got all parts to make it work beside some plastics, but hey plastic is optional and the beat-up look is badass in its own way
